Pregnancy

If you got pregnant quickly with DC1 - did you get pregnant quickly the second time round?

thats it really Smile....currently on first month of TTC number 2.

Last time round I was pregnant within the first 2 months but we had a lot more sex then. Feeling a bit anxious that it might take longer this time round and having taken 4 years to decide that I would like another I now want to get on with it !

I got pg in 3 months with DD, 4 months second time but miscarried at 12 weeks, and after that it took a year to get pg again. However I have heard, anecdotally, that mc can delay things.

It is exciting at the start, but please be careful as if it takes longer that excitement can be very stressful and you need to find a way to manage it. Sorry to be a downer.

yes philbee I definately dont want to fall into that trap of getting stressed and disappointed.

strange how it feels completely different this time round....I guess I am concious of the four year age gap already and my age too...it has taken me a year to persuade DH to try so for me it feels as if I have been waiting ages already.

and i wonder where DS gets his impatience from ?

I was pregnant within a few weeks with No1....took me 15 YEARS to have No2!!! He is now 4.5 and I am now (unexpectedly!!) 7 weeks pregnant with No3!!

I'm afraid it's a 'how long is a piece of string?' kind of a question, but good luck!!

Agree, no two stories will be the same.

I got pregnant with DC1 literally as soon as I came off the pill. Pregnant again the first month of trying for DC2 but miscarried. Pregnant with DC2 the next month of miscarrying!

DH thinks he's Goldenballs Smile

I hope it works out for you, try not to get stressed. My friend did this and ended up with IVF for DC2, having conceived DC1 naturally. Then, when they weren't even thinking of a DC3, she was pregnant in months of having DC2!

Yes. With DD1, got pregnant when I had a bad hangover and threw up the Pill I'd taken (I think). Blush With DD2, she was planned and got pregnant in the second month after coming off the Pill, as we were not "together" at the right time in the first month...

It took three months the first time, and one month the second time, but it is true- it'll be different for everyone!

6 weeks for DC1, 4 weeks for DC2. It could happen.

We got pregnant the first month of trying with both DC. I realise that is very lucky but I am now paranoid about accidentally getting pregnant as we are both adament we don't want a third. I have a coil but we are thinking of booking DH in for a vasectomy. Good luck to you though!

I was 19 and took 6 months with ds

I was 24/25 and took 14 months with dc3 (currently 37+2) different father though so that may make a difference

With DD started trying in the January, got a positive in May but MC and then got another positive in late November - and that time consisted of some hard core activity.

This time around weren't even trying, threw caution to the wind on one of the rare occastions that a 19mo would allowed us peace and accidently caught with DS who is due in 4 weeks!

pretty quickly with DS1 and DS2 - but know friends who took 3 or 4 years to conceive no 2/3.

First month of trying for both DS1 and DC2 (currently 11 weeks pg), very lucky! I hadn't been on the pill for years though so I think that helped and I'm young (25 first pg, 27 now).

Fallen first month every time of trying.

At 34 years old fell by accident, the chances were like hen's teeth and 2nd time aged 37 (currently awaiting arrival) 2nd month of trying. The only advice is make sure sex is good for you. Apparently chances are increased a lot if you have a really good time (if you see what I mean) and each time we conceived we had had really good sex, especially for me.

Have fun trying.xx

DD - first time of trying.

DC2 (now 19 weeks pregnant) - almost two years - had begun to think it might not happen and had just booked a long haul flight to see DH's family in New Zealand on the basis that we had been waiting to be able to take a new baby to see it's grandparents, but as there was no new baby and we haven't seen them in ages we ought to just go...(I will be 7 months by the time we come home). So if it doesn't work, try booking an expensive long haul trip....

4 months with DD, then a year with DC2, currently 12 weeks but my DH had a new job where he was doing night shifts so I blame that.

As someone said upthread, book a holiday, we were supposed to be going to Cyprus in June, now the date we were going is less then a week after my due date! Looks like we'll need to review that one.
