Am I in labour?

TeaJunky · 20/11/2012 10:55

I'm 38 + 2.

Period pains started Friday morning. Ease up a little with paracetamol which I've constantly been taking but then come back.

Have vomited once severely but no tummy bug symptoms. Eating as normal.

Today the pains are a bit more severe.

Am I in labour? I'm so confused and a bit worried now.

Maybe. I would give your midwife a phone and she can help.
Are the pains regular? Try timing them (I know it's boring) for length and distance apart.
Good luck and congratulations Smile

probably early labour. Try to eat, drink and rest as much as possible as this could go on for days Smile

This could be the start of early labour. I would speak to your mw for advice. Good luck :)

Oh goodness, go on for days???

I'll ring the midwife I think.

Does eating pineapple etc really speed it up?

Tea you can try pineapple, but mostly eat, drink and walking helps move things along.

I'm back. Sad

Had the most painful internal in the world, and she announced the cervix is still closed. I then bled straight after! Is that normal?? Is an internal even ok at this stage?

Feeling sorry for myself and drowning my sorrows in a cup of raspberry tea Sad

Oh Tea sorry you had a hard time, internal's are fine, can sometimes help things move. did she give you a sweep while she was there? Also did you mention the bleeding to them after? You will meet this baby soon.

I keep wiping away mucousy blood Confused

I just rang them and midwife said its perfectly normal for that to happen after an internal, as there are loads of little blood vessels around the neck of the womb that can be disturbed... No sweep, princess, the internal was torture enough Sad

Feeling fragile could also be a sign that things are imminent - me and DH had the most frightful row the night before I went into labour with DS Wink

Lots of rest, carb-load and fluids, baby will appear when they're ready

Hello tea I'm in the same boat, 38+5. Lost my mucus plug at the weekend and period pain off and on for the last few days, really thought it was getting going yesterday morning but then all tailed off. Trying to stay zen about it! It will happen for us eventually.

Sorry about painful examination. I'm trying to avoid going in until I'm sure I'm on the way as I've heard that internal checks are generally less uncomfortable once you're in established labour.

I seem fine, no sickness but my back is aching a lot :( how are you tonight?

How's it going tea? Any more progress? My contractions came back today, more definitely contractions than Monday/Tuesday morning, but very infrequently, only about once an hour. So a pretty slow process it seems! Trying to stay chilled and get plenty of rest in preparation.
