Hi
I am 43 and expecting my first and these next several months are going to be a challenge so hoping to meet others in the same situation.
I can believe I have a baby growing in my dusty cobweb ridden womb. It has taken me 3 weeks to get my head around the whole thing and it is still worried about the future and being able to cope. My partner is fab and great helping me with the ups and downs of baby hormones. Nothing beats hot sweats, night panics and freeze in the middle of tescos wondering our we doing the right thing. I feel better this week and got my head around things .
Any ladies who also need support or just to have a good moan every now and again. xx
Ps thinking about having a toilet built next to my bed to save time going to the loo quite a bit in the evenings!!

Hey Horseygirl brill to hear from ya. Wow little boy how exciting for ya.
Just update ya on situation from last we spoke. I had a lot of pain in my right side 2 weeks ago and was admitted into hospital ( lincoln hospital ace nurses). They kept me for 3 days, after lots of blood tests and unsure about my appendix they let me go home. I had an infection but all ok now. Got my 1st midwifes appointment this Friday and scan date through 5th April .
Ps beat ya on the loo runs last night best yet 4 times. cat is getting confused thinking its breakfast time !!! silly boy xx

Glad you are OK - that was a bit scary. Good to get the midwife appt so soon also. It's really exciting about getting your first scan too - YAY! That's not really all that far away. Do you have any morning sickness or weird cravings yet? Chocolate milk has been a recurring theme throughout this pregnancy for me. What about you Shortbutsosweet? We're pretty close together. How have you been? I've also just realised that shortening your name to Shortbut probably isn't the most tactful- doh! Preggo brain strikes again! There are some other ladies on here who are 40+ on here so I know we aren't alone. xx

43 next month, DD1 age 5 and DD2 who is nearly two. 5+1 so early days. Told my parents yesterday and they were pretty horrified as I am so old! Grr!

Glad there is an old biddies thread Smile

I'm weeks away from my 44th birthday and due in August. To say being pregnant came as a shock is an understatement I think it took dh & I a few weeks to get used to it. For me the strangest thing is the fact that all my friends stopped reproducing a good few years back so I'm pretty much going it alone this time round. As well as that I'm currently going through the high risk NT scan thing, and am waiting to have an amnio next week. So don't feel in a position to feel totally happy just yet.

Morning all! Another quickie from me, though typing easier this time as on laptop rather than iPad (so slow to type on!!)

Tenner I think I have caught itching from you!! I would gladly scatch the soles of my feet with a cheese-grater if I could right now!! Ouch. Marginally worried as is symptom of Cholestatis, but thinking positive and hoping it will go away soon.

Boggler hoping your NT tests come back ok. Is a bit of a nail-biting time. Hope you will keep us posted. Am in a similar position to you socially - all our friends sprogged 10 years or so back, though we have a couple of friends in NL who are a bit younger and have had LOs recently.

Shortbutsosweet shall we call you sosweet for short instead of Shortbut?? Smile Well done for being so organised. So far I have only bought a Moses basket. Didn't want to tempt fate really, as like some of you, took so long to get to this stage. I've stored it next to my zimmer frame. Grin

Hope you're all having a good day despite the rain. Is p*&^%$g down here. I have to get on and do stuff as going away for a few days tomorrow, so may be quiet for a few days.

Morning fellow seniors - hope you are all doing OK today. Not doing too much today, just a bit of tidying up and knitting. But will maybe do some cooking later on - got a nice recipe for a Macoroni Cheese with mushrooms and broccoli in the Times at the weekend so looking forward to trying it out at some point. Not very organised on the things bought front just yet and have been afraid to buy things... But plan to start getting some things this month. I got a pack of bodysuits, a fleece blanket and some muslins in Asda last night for a start but want to start in earnest over next few week. Don't have a notion what to get at all... xx

Afternoon fellow seniors,
I hope you all have had a good day. I have been a domestic godess to today and done a spot of cleaning amazing what sunlight through the windows shows up.

Horsey girl in answer to your question I have had no sickness what so ever, which has made me want lots of food. I lost 5 stone last year and went from size 22 to size 12/14. My GP said I sould eat more carbs YEH !!! toast and cake s and biscuits brillant. I have been off work the last 2 weeks and have been out for lunch and of course had to have after ( its rude not to) let me know how the mac cheese turns out sound lovely. Shame we cant tag on pictures you coylkd show off your creation

10000fireflies - Groove to hear from you chuck !! Hope you enjoy your trip away. I have got tickets to go to WB studio to see the sets of Harry Potter. So excited, wait till I get in the gift shop. I will use the baby as an excuse to buy stuff

valium queen - I have not told my mum and dad yet, dreading it to be honest. They will probably think the same as you too old. Ah well grandma and grandpa are going to be thrilled to have a toddler screaming at them when they are 75

well ladies off to make fish and veg for tea, well open the packet of fish stick on tray and cut up veg and boil. Cooking is not my stong point. And as I am such a good girl I may get a mcdonald chocolate milkshake and apple pie ( horsey girl yes I am having choco milk cravings oh and crisps

Little Red - Choco milk is practically drinking a glass of milk which can only be good for our Bumpys. Non? You might find that the dread morning sickness still comes but you might also be lucky. I didn't get it either, bit of nausea only but that generally settled after about 12 weeks so.
10000fireflies - recognise your name - didn't realise you were a Fellow Senior also!
Lovely to see more of us Seniors on here too xx

Had a scan today and all is well for this early stage. Me and the very young specialist nurse had a little laugh about how old I was. Which was nice. 40, 1DD, 6+5

Hi Midgetm welcome to the dusty womb gang. Especially funny when you tell younger people you are expecting, they have a look of disgust thinking wow you still have sex after your 40 gross !!! .

Tennerlady ties in pretty accurately with my LMP (which is sketchy but I could remember the one before that). Have a very dodgy histiry so good news taken with a dash of realism.

littleredmonkay I suppose it is kind a gross when you think about it. But we will take what we can get for as long as we can get it.
