Hi, my 2 year old son is interested in potty training and can happily do a poo on the toilet or potty (he likes copying his older brother) but doesn't seem to know how to relax to pee. The only pees he does is a by-product of trying to poo - lots of straining.

He'll sit on the potty, strain out a tiny pee, get a treat, walk into the living room, and pee all over the floor. I really think he just doesn't know how to relax and let himself pee.

Any ideas for how we can help him relax and pee on the potty/toilet? He's not the sit still type so I haven't been able to bribe him to sit on it at all. His brother trained with no problems but was 6 months older - but I don't want to miss a window when DS2 seems to want to toilet train.

hmmmm i am going to watch this as i have a similar problem. DD has just given me the potty with a poo in it 3 days after i gave up potty training with no success and her hiding from me to do pees. she did manage one poo during the days we were trying. she was naked when i went upstairs to put the baby to bed and when i came down i found wee all over the kitchen floor and wet footprints to the living room. as i was cleaning it up she came and gave me the potty. i am a bit flummoxed about what to do as potty trianing got too stressful as she was not up for being sat on the potty at regular intervals AT ALL

Thanks for posting FlouryBap! This is definitely less stressful the second time around without a baby - but then i'm wondering if that's the problem, I'm more motivated and trying it when DS2 is younger than DS1 was! Good luck.
