Help needed with awkward new situation!

My 2.5 year old ds has woken up this morning and is refusing to put on his pull up and will only wear his buzz lightyear pants. Only problem is is that he refuses point blank to sit on potty or toilet and he has no recollection that he is wet when he wees. I need him to be dry by Jan 2011 when he starts at pre school but not sure how to tackle this.
we are off to disney land paris in a few weeks and was going to try potty training when we returned.

My daughter had never sat on the potty or toilet before she was trained (at her instigation, much like your son). I had tried to get her to sit on the potty / toilet before this but, like your son, she refused.

I left her on hard floors / in the garden for a few days when absolutely everything went on the floor / grass. Didn't really try to push the training at all - I thought what she needed was to link the sensation before a wee / poo with what actually comes out. She'd been to the toilet with me enough times to know where you should go when you know you need one!

I then offered to put her back in nappies, which we did for about two or three nappies, then she started using the toilet and has had very few accidents since.
