we have wees in the potty!
Never thought we'd use the potty, he wanted to wee in the toilet, but after Sunday morning where he weed twice carefully on the towel I'd put down for him to sit on I decided to get the potty out of the loft. This morning I left him watching beebies while I went in the shower and came down to a huge wee in the potty (he is dry at night). Then an hour or so later - another. I wasn't there, I wasn't reminding him / asking him, anything!
Now we just need to work on poos - any ideas?
Also he's gone to mum ^& dad's for 2 nights....uh oh!

I'll celebrate with you.......make mine a large slice please . we started with the potty just over a week ago and it's progressing pretty well. All poos were in the pants for 5 days but then I started bribery by chocolate buttons and lo and behold all poos in the potty since! It's amazing what they'll do if you find the right incentive

ooo i'll join you SPB. Well done to T my ds is progressing very slowly. Keep going one step forwards and two back but yesterday he did his first poo on the toilet

Although today he poo'd his pants again

He won't ask for a wee/poo and if we ask he just says no but what seems to work whilst he's at the cm's is she just takes him when she goes, if they're off out, just got home etc.

So i've been taking him to the loo today and we had the poo incident and one wee accident all day, which isn't great but will do for now

No ideas on how to help but i'll mark my place for some mn help too, could use it

I was just going to start this thread - I will gladly celebrate with you! Congratulations.

Have been trying to train DS for a year (on and off) with no success. He is now 3.7 and a few days ago casually walked into the bedroom and announced that he had just done a wee in the toilet

I thought it would never happen. He has had no accidents at all since although he asked for a nappy if he wanted to do a poo. But today he even did one of those in the loo.

I am so pleased. And relieved.

ooh can I join in the celebrations please. have been agonising over this for months, couple of false starts, posted here a few times then ds just got on with it for himself - remarkably few accidents and taking himself to the loo now very confidently and independently. I guess sometimes it is just a matter of them leading the way!

congratulations to anyone else making progress!!

I really think he's cracked it (with the help of mum)
Tonight he has had a wee and a poo on the toilet, both completely unprompted! In fact we only knew about the poo after the event when he shouted down the stairs

woooo hooooo!!! loud cheers for SPB's son!

meanwhile nul points for mine who after 10 days of fabulous independent weeing and pooing, trailed into the living room today saying "mummy I am pooing everywhere". yes a lovely trail of poo behind him. didn't manage to spot it all either (dark floors) and so we had round two of him treading in it 10 mins later.

well done to ds SBP don't worry about going backwards, they don't all do it. my dd was dry/clean pretty much after 2 days. I don't remember any accidents at all, she took herself to the potty/toilet straight away, unlike my ds I think I may have been spoilt with dd and now have ds as payback

My ds is very slow at getting the whole thing tomorrow i'm off out to buy some bribe toys and see if that works. Failing that i'm just going to buy relly cheap pants and hope he only poos at home not at cm/pre-school.

yes the poos were/are my worry. I have no problems with throwing his pants out but feel dreadful if others are rinsing and bagging

I somtimes chuck them out if they are caked in poo, I contemplated scrapping it off yesterday and just thought 'wtf are you doing, bin 'em'!! So far he hasn't had a poo today, i've told him if he poos in the toilet not his pants i'll buy him some Ben 10 pants but I can't buy them if he's going to poo on Ben 10 coz that wouldn't be very nice fingers crossed it works. I'm not holding out much hope tbh

it's like he knew I had just posted saying he hadn't done it yet he went off outside and came back with a massive poo in his pants I have no idea what to do. He knows he need to go because he disappears off to do it

No advice, sorry Eddas but we had a few of those before he realised
Listen to me - he's done it once and I think it's all sorted No doubt DH will get home from picking him up from nursery with 5 bags full of pants & trousers!

Eddas my DS is in the process of potty training and he was hiding away to poo in his pants, even saying 'hiding' as he snook off! So when I think he's on the verge of needing one I take off his pants and let him roam around in just a t-shirt. This has proven very successful and he poos in his potty even if I'm not in the room to remind him Hoorah!

Congrats SPB I know how exciting it is when they finally start to get the hang of it
