Hi
My daughter is 2 yrs 8 months and has been dry in the day and during her afternoon nap for 10 months. I am pregnant again, and I thought maybe it would be good to try and crack the night time before new baby comes. She has had the odd dry nappy in morning but very, very infrequently, mostly its still pretty wet. We went cold turkey last week, got the waterproof disposable sheets and took off the pull ups.
She has done really well some nights and been dry but others she has weed once or twice. She seems to hate being lifted and gets upset and says she doesn't want a wee. Normally she will settle back to sleep ok, but sometimes she will wee, sometimes she won't. She has also been waking up really early 4 or 5am and won't settle back to sleep. Its a bit of a mare really as she is cranky during the day because she is having a disturbed sleep and we (DH and I) are also v. tired and cranky, and I wonder whether this is the right time for us to be losing sleep 4 months before new baby is due to arrive..

Right now I am wondering whether to just put the pull ups back on and wait for another 6 -12 months..
I read a few posts here and didn't realise until now that there was a hormonal aspect to it too, so I don't want to pressure her if she is not ready. I have a feeling though it maybe quite hard to get her back into the pull ups as she has been enjoying being a "big girl" and just wearing knickers the last week.
Any advice appreciated!

yes you just wait til the morning nappy is always dry. it is a hormonal thing.

I think night-time dryness will come of it's own accord - leave your DD to do it on her own time when she is ready. I've heard it can take until they are 5 or 6 sometimes before they are dry at night. It is completely different to day-time dryness.

Don't give yourself extra work if you are pregnant. DS is in night time pull-up pants just now and coping well - hasn't had any accidents for over two weeks now. I'm also pg (39wks) so no way could I handle getting up throughout the night to give myself extra work - I will have enough to do when the baby comes!lol

2.8 is very young to be dry at night AFAIK. It is a hormonal thing and not something you can train them to do. I would just put pull-ups back on and wait a while tbh (although I'm not sure how you persuade her to do it if she's insisting on going to bed without......)

Hi
Just a quick update - I put pull up back on last night with suprisingly little fuss. DD was asleep by 8pm, slept soundly though the night (all of us!) and then up at 7am. Pull up was wet in morning. Think I definately did the right thing reverting back for a while longer.
Thanks for the advice!

glad you all slept better last night. your DD will become dry at night when the time is right for her. As someone else said, you can't train this type of dryness - it will happen only when the time is right.
