Recommendations for small potties for early-ish PT

I'm just starting to sit my little boy on the potty, at 13 months. He sits on it OK in clothes, but if I put him on it naked he cries. I think it might be because he is uncomfortable since there were red marks on his legs when I took him off. Can anyone recommend a small potty that is suitable for boys of around this age, as I think that the ones I have (Tesco!) might be more suited to 2+ year olds?

Hmm, I've been using Boots ones for ages. (Sons have just turned one year.)

There are red marks on their thighs after prolonged bowel movements, though, but they've never seemed bothered. Your son, however, might be bothered though, what with children being individuals, and all that...

do you think a 14 month baby could be ready for potty training?
My Ds gets his changing mat out before he has a poo which is a good sign that he knows he's just about to do one but I thought he would be a bit young for potty training or loo training yet.

If a baby wants to sit on a potty then go ahead - better that they are used to it and happy to do so than having a 2½ year old that won't go anywhere near it.

My dd never pooed in her nappy from about 8 months. She always preferred to poo when her nappy was off, so one day I thought I'd stick her on the potty and see what happened. Because she was used to the potty for poo-ing I had her dry and out of nappies at 23 months.

Neither of mine liked sitting on small potties, I think they must be painful for little legs. They by far prefer the big potty/seat/step (potty with removeable seat for putting on the loo). They would happily sit on that, even though their feet don't even touch the floor, and look at a picture book or two while we waited . My DD was pooing on the potty by 11 months, DS is 8.5 months and happy to sit, but not yet 'performing'.

Lionstar - which one did you use?

Am planning to go slowly with the training, and put him on the potty at certain times when I know he is likely to poo, and then at times when he is likely to wee. Want to avoid the potty refusal of 2+ year olds, and it he takes to it and gets trained earlier then great!

We have this one. The seat seems comfortable and is removeable for when they move on to the toilet, and the potty becomes a step. When they are small you have to stay close to them becuase their feet don't come any where near touching the ground, but at least they are happy to sit on it.

We also had a potty chair; she used the toilet from the start of PT but has the chair so she can go herself if she needs to as soon as she gets out of bed etc. She absolutely would not go near the little standard potty. I'd suggest getting a chair-style one as it would still be small enough at 13 months, if you're trying to get him used to the potty from that age.
