Cheap - go to your local £1 shop, and buy a couple.

I've had my fair share of buying potties so hopefully this is helpful:

  1. Potette Plus: Many parents like this but we don't. Had to return it as DS fell down on floor and injured himself a few times(he's quite heavy). It's not stable no matter how much we tried to adjust and held it.

  1. Summer Infant Potty System: Once again another one that many parents like. I initially liked it as DS liked it, soft cushion and all. it also fits onto toilet seat very well. After 1 month, even though it was cleaned many times a day, it stank and was impossible to clean. Suitable if you don't mind a slightly smelly potty.

  1. Thomas potty from Mothercare: Not great for initial training as it really hurt LO's bums in the beginning and wees don't actually go in as it's tiny, therefore a very upset DS when he saw wee all over the floor even though he'd been really good and sat down on potty in time to wee. Once trained, it is brilliant as it's small and portable with occasional spills. DS likes it now.

  1. Thomas toilet trainer Seat: Bought this after 1 month PT as we got rid of the smelly Summer Infant Potty System. Fits on our toilet pretty well and DS immediately started poo-ing in the toilet rather than his potty, hoorah! We all love this one. It would probably stink someday as it's also cushioned. But so far after 3 months of heavy use, it still doesn't smell so very happy with it.

  1. BabyBjorn potty chair: I didn't actually buy this one but just tried it in the shops. It gets really good reviews and I think it looks pretty good, DS loved sitting on it(with pants on of course). At that point we were already happy with the 2 Thomas products so didn't want to buy yet another potty. I reckon if we'd seen this earlier, I would definitely have bought it. But then we'd have 3 potties rather than 2 which is a bit of a waste.

I have to say, my favourite ones are those cheap looking little potties I see in public places, but can never find them shops.

Hope this helps!

We used a white Ikea one for a quid or so and stuck a few stickers on it.

We got one from Morrisons for 99p. Was very good.

Boots pottys are a couple of quid.

TIP - Buy a couple of cheap ones and have one upstairs and one downstairs to save running up/down stairs with a dribbly toddler multiple times a day.

We're a Potette Plus loving household here (as our most of our friends) DS is very tall and has never fallen off it. Been a lifesaver many a times when he's announced he needed the loo in random places (used it yesterday in fact when he HAD to go in the car park at Woburn Safari Park! He's 3 now) and also doubles as a childs seat for grotty public loos which was great for us as DS likes to put his hands down on the seat!!

I find the ikea one very good for my little boy who sometimes insists on sitting on it backwards and all the wee stays in willy and all.
he gets a sticker to stick on his potty every time he does a wee or poo so the potty is getting quite covered now!
if you have a little boy make sure it has a high front on it to catch any wayward wee

We have a mothercare plain white one for DD (nearly 22months) she is very small & it seems to hurt her bottom & if she doesn't sit on it 'right' she gets upset as it is clearly hurting her & she ends up with big red marks on her leg. Very interested that people are recommending the IKEA one, think I will have to try a few different ones out. Any other recomendations for ones suitable for little bottoms would be interesting! Will watch this discussion with interest as I was about to post something similar to th OP myself!

I would recommend a higher one, which is a lot more comfortable. We really like our Potty Chair,(it's this one-

This can still be used in their bedrooms for night-training up to 4+, so they don't have to crash around the house when they want a wee in the middle of the night!
