Potty training

I don't know where to start

DD will be 3 in a few weeks. She starts nursery 2nd September and has to be potty trained to go. I know I've left it late but she really wasn't ready. I'm still not sure she is.

Anyway DP has a week off work so I thought this would be the perfect time.

DD is terrified of the toilet so we are going to have to use a potty. I can't just leave one lying around though as I have a 1yo DS who won't leave it alone.

So do I just take her nappy off tomorrow and tell her to use the potty? The thing I'm worried about is car journeys as we live 40+ minute drive away from anything. I don't really want to stay in all day every day.

Confused

You can leave it lying around. Just disinfect it after each use. Your DD needs access to it and being able to see it will remind her.
I am not sure about long journeys. Potty before you leave, several changes of clothing and a towel under her bum when she is in her seat?
You are going to feel stressed as you have a limited time for this. Especially if you feel she isn't ready. Be organised, loads of pants and clothes. Plenty kitchen roll and lots of deep breaths. If you guys are relaxed, she will be too. Good luck. It will be fine. Flowers

You son playing with it is a good thing, as long and you clean it after each use, it will get him used to it.

Thanks for the replies. Just a bit of an update. It has gone better than I ever imagined. No accidents so far and I haven't even had to remind her to go. She just comes and tells us once she's been. She has done so well.

Thank you :) she obviously was ready. She is a very sensitive child and has been getting upset when we've been discussing it recently, which is why I thought she wasn't ready. When I took her nappy off this morning, she was really upset, but was completely fine after her first wee.
