oh god, the poo! the smell!

Just that really. He's held it for two days, spent all.day screaming about needing a poo and has pooed his pants 3 times in an hour. Everything stinks of poo, I'm struggling to not seem bothered by it now.
Ds is nearly 3 and we started potty training last week. He's cracked weeing since day two, and has done two poos in the potty since then . But he just won't go, he's frightened to do it I think. Bribes aren't working, watching us pooing etc hasn't helped. What can we do?!
