I've got a week off work specifically to give it a good start at least, ifnot conquer it!

Just looking for advice andexperiences please!

The number one piece of advice is; stick with it. Don't do it for a day and then give up, don't put nappies on 'just in the car' or 'because we had to pop to the supermarket'. You must commit and stick with it.

I'm assuming your child is showing signs of readiness? If so, give it at least two weeks before you consider going back to nappies. Lots of children show no progress for 2/3/4/5 days and the suddenly 'get it'. Stick with it.

I agree with pp, don't use nappies or pull ups. We stayed at home for a couple of days, then ventured to grandparents so it was familiar and knew where the bathroom is. We also had a reward chart, but only marked success. We bought about 20 pairs of pants from primark.

Shamelessly hijacking your thread as I intend to do the same in 3 weeks - good luck!

I get no pull ups during the day, at all - what about night?!

Pull-Ups at night is fine.

Books for kids on potty training - DS1 loves Pirate Pete. I let him pick his own pants and got a fold up travel potty as for a while he refused point blank to sit on a toilet. Chocolate buttons work well as incentive to get him sitting on it!

Intend to stick to it strictly, as previous attempts have failed because I can't dedicate the time to it (hence the week off!!)

There's not a nappy in sight and dd chose her big girl pants the other day!

We're doing okay today so far! One little accident this morning, but this afternoon she's told me "mom! The potty!" And successfuly got pants off, bum on potty and pooped by herself!

Started the stickers for successes too, thanks Amanda!

We started today. We've had stickers for putting on big boy pants, and for sitting on the potty but he's suddenly got scared and wee'ed on the kitchen floor and now won't go near a potty!

We're on day 1 here. Naked bottom half, sitting on the potty as often as I can persuade her, Percy piglets at the ready for the first pee in the potty.

Results so far...

Potty 0 - Floor 4

We will persevere!!

How's it going mrsh and lones?

We've done well all week, including holding on for a toilet when we went out on Tuesday, but have now refused to pee since 11am Confused

Maybe we need a potty woes thread to support each other this week!!!

Not great here. Tuesday was quite good, we had two wees and two poos in the potty. DS went to nursery Wednesday and today, and that hasn't been successful (too much fun stuff going on) so I'm keeping him at home tomorrow and we'll try and crack it over the weekend. He did one wee in the potty today and got a chocolate star, which he was very excited about, so I'm resorting to bribery tomorrow! I've never done so much laundry!

Can I join?

Starting with DS2, 3.4 yesterday. Have had half-hearted attempts so far but really mean it this time! He is in just a tshirt & sandals for the garden & was completely naked yesterday afternoon (when we started). He is not leaving the house today - DH & I are taking it in turns to give DS1 a run outside Grin.

Yesterday, started at 1pm through to bathtime at 7ish. In that time about 4 lots of drops on floor, where he started, but finished on the potty, 1 biggish wee on floor & 1 little wee in pants (didn't want him to spill hot food on anything delicate at dinner time!) Today, countless wees & little poos on potty, only 1 medium wee & about 3 lots of drops on floor Smile

Tomorrow we are thinking of having him in pants. Sometimes he will talk about wee wee so we pop him on the potty & sometimes we can tell he knows something is happening when he looks down, so not sure if pants will work but figure it can't do any harm.

Afternoon all, how are we getting on?

Not doing too bad here, lots of stickers on the chart! No accidents for two days now, but having to be super vigilant and keep asking do you need to go?
Only two poo-cidents since we started too (one on her new bed huff)

She's doing quite well at night too, of her own accord, three mornings this week she's woken up dry,one morning she told me off because I didn't let her out of the safety gate in time to wee so shed done it in her pull up and this morning ...well, who knows!

One more sticker and she gets another my little pony!

We finished the day having only had two or three small wee accidents on the floor (& all of these were the start of something bigger on the potty, iyswim). Although DS did do a wee in the bath (my fault as I didn't try him on the toilet beforehand) & a poo in his nappy as soon as it was on - but he told us about that as it was happening, so not too discouraged. Pretty pleased overall for his first whole day (about 11 hours plus bath) without a nappy.

Interesting to see how pants day goes tomorrow.

admiral it sounds like DD is doing great Smile

Pants day going very badly so far Sad DS not at all happy about the prospect of wearing pants. Screaming & trying to take them off all the time Sad Also had 2 big accidents in them so far (one on my lap Hmm) and no wees on potty at all. Doesn't seem to notice wee until it's happening, whereas naked he was talking about wee wee or looking down.

I think it is too early to put him in pants. DH says 'he must wear pants' & that's that. Oh, or his other suggestion is a pull-up, which I don't like because they are too much like a nappy. Will be amazed if he gets one wee in potty today Sad

Going a bit better now. One wee on potty because it was 20 mins since a drink so I put him on potty. Then one wee on potty because he took his pants off so I popped him on there Smile

This worked for us: going commando, staying at home, lots to drink, sitting on the potty half an hour after each drink, chocolate buttons as a reward. And lots of Pirate Pete. Loads of praise when DS successfully used the potty. No pants unless we had to go out (which we tried not to do for two days). It was pretty intense but it worked! Good luck
