Potty training

Pants ruin everything!

We've been doing bare bum time with my daughter for a few months on and off but with the hot weather and me being home for a few days I decided to start potty training. Day 1 she was perfect and we even managed to pop out briefly a couple of times with her wearing pants. Day 2 - perfect when bare bummed but a few big accidents (including poo) when wearing pants. The accidents have made her reluctant to put pants on now. Not sure where to go from here. She's very good without them and doesn't even need reminding so far. Should I persevere with pants as next step or ease off a bit? Don't want to stress her with it but unless we keep trying pants she won't learn will she?

I was literally coming here to post this section question. We're on day 3 and have spent almost the whole time naked. Only one accident with a wee, all poos on target. Gets on the potty without us even saying! Yet pants-on he just wees. Immediately. I'm very much hijacking your post OP!!

Actually I've realised my first post is slightly wrong - frazzled brain! She's 26months. We've done bare bum for the odd day at weekends over the last few weeks and intermittently before that. But she's been fully no nappy during the day since midday Thursday. I first put pants on her Friday lunchtime as was wheeling her round for a nap - that was the first accident but she was half asleep, just waking up so I can't really blame pants for that I suppose. Then tried pants again to pop out in the evening and she was fine. Today bare bum went well again this morning so tried pants again in afternoon. Today is effectively day 2.5.

I would use pull ups for outings. Dd was like this but after a few months she got it properly.

Ok well we kept pants off at home for a good week and loose trousers or a dress for outings. They seem to feel 'something' on them and get confused and have an accident when they wear pants.
Didn't attempt pants for a week then bought 'fun' pants and talked a lot about keeping them dry and having cheers when potty was used and pants were dry.
Pull ups for naps and nighttime only and we got the ones with wetness indicators on. Again talked about 'special sleep pants' and not wetting them, showed them the wetness indicator and again lots of praise, cheers and stickers for dry pants after naps or nights.
Also use disposable change mats in the car seat and pushchair if going any distance.

squatcher I know it's weird - especially as this post was the first thing that came up when I opened the potty training topic...

So tonight DS woke up screaming because he wouldn't wee in his nappy, yet wees when in pants sigh

Purplelooby aw, must be confusing for both of you.

Ginger maybe I've rushed into the pants then. She's been so good without them I thought it was worth a try. Will definitely try a dress and no pants on her if we pop out tomorrow.
