Hi,

My DD has been able to tell me she is going to do a poo for a while and says "wee wees happening". She can dress and undress herself successfully, watches me use the toilet, flushes it for me, and takes her nappy off herself and sits on potty or toilet happily. All good yeah?

However she has never done anything in either toilet or potty and gets quite stressed if she feels she really needs to and doesn't have a nappy on. The other day she took her nappy off and pulled her trousers back up saying "no nappy for me". I brought the potty down and said let me know if you need it. She told me she needed a poo but then just did it in her trousers straight away before I could make it across the room. I was breezy about it and she wasn't bothered until I suggested we put it in the potty or toilet. Then she freaked out.

I know we've trained her to go in her nappy and it's now a matter of convincing her otherwise. I am just not sure whether to just jump in and do it (and if so how?) or leave it for another while?

Thanks for reading
X

I tried at this age with ds. After 4 days of 7+ changes at nursery, no tumble dryer & it being autumn I gave up. At 2.11 he's had virtually no wee accidents but poo is another story!

If you're a sahm, or have a week off over the summer, I'd give it a whirl. Go totally bottomless whilst at home & plan to spend a lot of time at home for a few days. It'll become apparent very quickly if it's the right time!

Thanks jaffakake, am a teacher and DD only attends nursery in term time so we have 6 weeks of summer hols ahead of us now which is why I'm feeling the pressure to do it. Good weather and time available. Might just bite the bullet and hope it doesn't upset her too much.

Ok, any advice on what to do now? We tried yesterday with no nappy, she came in to me at 6.30am as she'd done a poo so after I cleaned her we left it off. She happily sat on potty every 30/45 mins for up to 5 mins at a time but by nap time still nothing. That's 6hrs and she'd had lots to drink. After nap her nappy was very heavy. Then same in the afternoon but she did have a bath about 3.30 as she'd managed to cover herself in paint so may well have wee'd in there? Nothing at all in potty, toilet, carpet anywhere!
Any ideas how to get her to go outside of nappy?
