My 23 month old keeps taking her leggings and nappy off. She tells me it's dirty even if it's only been on 20 mins and is clearly dry. Sometimes she says 'sore, nappy off' but she doesn't look sore, no rash, no redness. It's just a reason to bit have it on. We recently spent a week with my sister on holiday with my 2.8 yr old nephew who is potty trained and she was fascinated.

She is eager to sit on a potty but I don't think she really has awareness or control yet. She sits, tells me 'not working' then stands up, walks off and pees on the floor!

My gut tells me she's not ready, plus we're moving house next week and it's the last thing I need.

How do I get her to stop taking her nappy off though? She is tantrum tastic ;)

Try pull ups, no worries if she wees in it and she might get the idea to pull up again rather than take off completely?

Hmm all the advice says don't try to potty train around the time of a big change like house move. And you think she's not ready.

Can you put her in poppered vests for a while?

Sounds a bit like my 2.5yo - she has sort of grasped the concept that nappies can be dirty and then can be changed, but has no control over her bladder yet. Tbh we're just plugging away with a quick check and a "no, that's not dirty" if it doesn't need changing, followed by lots of praise if it does need changing. She had a week or so asking lots and has since got bored and now just asks when she actually needs it changed.

I always imagined it was a big sign of potty training but like you, my gut says that she actually isn't ready.
