My daughter will be 3 end of sept, iv been trying since she turned two to use the potty, we've had a couple of wee's but she hates it and always ends up crying for a nappy to be on again. Now she point blank refuses to use it. There's been a couple of times she's wanted to wee on the toilet but she won't make a habit of it. I got a comment from a mum at a play group saying it's disgusting at her age to be in a nappy and how her daughter used the potty and didn't wear nappies from the moment she walked, it upset me a little and now I'm worried incase she won't get the hang of it before preschool.

You need to take a complete break from it, if it has become so upsetting for her.

You should also tell the judgy bitch at playgroup to fuck the fuck off.

Leave it for a couple of months and try again gently.

Defo leave it. My dd was the same and we waited until she was 3. She went straight to the toilet and was trained in 3 days

I haven't pushed it at all for the past few weeks, some times I'll ask if she would use the potty that day when changing her bum and I get a firm no. We've even bought funky potties she's wanted, we have about 4 of the things lol thanks for the piece of mind ladies, I feel alittle better about having an almost 3 year old in nappies!

It is very topical with me as I am trying to train DD atm. She turned 3 at the end of June. She has been a little resistant bit we are going cold turkey as she was asking for a nappy change after every pee, so she knew what was happening. They all get there eventually. It is judt frustrating me that DD is taking longer than both of her brothers.
