Potty training

When do we move from regular intervals to DS asking to go?

We are currently potty training our DS. He is 3.5 and has a speech disorder and is only now able to start to communicate with us with a few sounds. We are putting him on the potty every hour or two but at what point do you stop this and wait for him to try and communicate that he needs to wee or poo? Many thanks

Is he able to communicate when he needs to go? Could you move to just asking him regularly if he needs to go rather than actively putting him on the potty? That's all I did with my DS once we had done a couple of days of actively getting him to sit on the potty so he understood it :)

I am not sure to be honest. I ask him a lot but he always says no. I have to persuade every couple of hours. He has had a few accidents but not bothered. Just not sure if i should stop and wait for him or not.
