My DS is 2.5, in the past 2 weeks has been telling us he's having a wee but no time between saying he needs it before he's done it.
We've had the potty around for a few months and he is aware of what its for,

now today i was at home all afternoon so thought it'd be a good idea to remove his nappy, immediately he asked for his nappy back on but managed to distract him playing and told him potty was out if he needed it. I spent all afternoon waiting and pumping him with drinks and nothing, occasionally would sit but nothing.
He then began to hold himself and cry and say he needed a wee but screamed when i suggested going on potty..he spent the next 30 minutes holding it in and i could see he needed it but refused.

I gave in! Sad and he immediately went in his nappy.

Is he not ready yet? Should i wait?

doesn't sound ready. It helped remove the fear for us by getting DH involved, he takes him to the bathroom all the time and even might have done it outside (when caught short on a hike etc), DS took more interest in imitating him then, we didn't have to encourage it as he just wanted to copy dad.

stand him in the bath tub and get him peeing in the potty there, then slowly move towards the toilet.

or put the nappy open on the potty, and get him to wee onto it.
