DS 2.6 has been aware of being about to poo for a while and has been telling us in advance. He's also now telling us that he's doing a pee. He's done a few of both of these on potty and now on a training seat on our loo. We have a 3 wk baby daughter and I'm recovering from c section so we haven't really made a concerted effort yet. I feel like he's ready now though and I don't want to make him wait longer in case he gets bored and we lose the momentum!

Sorry for the essay- just a bit of background!

Hello. Congrats on the baby!

Trained my 2.5 yo 3-4 weeks ago. We read Pirate Pete and his Potty then went to choose some pants like Pete, set a day we wouldn't wear nappies anymore and talked about it up to then. That was all about a week. Then we went cold turkey on nappies, did a potty star chart and gave a chocolate button for every successful time. It worked better than I could have ever hoped for and he was dry within a week, including overnight after a week or two, except when poorly.

In my experience boys respond v well to bribery and clear guidelines. But I only have one so am prob talking out of my arse!

Thank you!

That sounds like a great plan of action!

I imagine that the bribery will work very well with my son too Grin

I like the cold turkey plan as it should make him more aware of the feeling wet/ big boy pants instead of chunky nappy etc.

Am off to order pirate Peter now...
