Potty training

Is this this the wrong way for bedtime potty training?

DS is currently potty training and doing really well, although we have to remind him/bribe him odd times to go. He decided he didn't want to wear a nappy to bed anymore either which is really good. First night had no accidents, but next 3 nights he was waking up between 2-3AM drenched and wanting to come in with me and DP. He wasn't drinking an awful lot before bed time ( was tricky to know some of the days if he hadn't been with me though as to when he last had a drink) my step mum suggested putting him on the potty just before we go to bed, it has helped along with a good attempt to get him it go on! But he's been dry last two nights. Just wandered if anyone else has tried this way, and if I should feel bad for waking him?

Apparently current advice is you shouldn't 'pot' kids at night as it confuses the signals to the brain or something

Imo there is no such thing as night training, they just do it in their own time. We just used pull ups with ds until he was dry through the night, and made him do a wee before bed and on waking.

I'd say go with pull ups at night too - won't 'confuse' him but will help in case of accidents.
Dryness at night is totally dependant on some kind of hormone in the body so will just happen for the majority of kids. Being dry at night often takes longer than being dry during the day.
