We stopped using nappies yesterday to try and encourage DS to use the potty (21 months). Today he did every single wee in his potty with very little encouragement but we had him half undressed as from previous attempts he wets himself if he has trousers on.

Does anyone know how we can help him to carry on once dressed?! As most days we are out and about, on the school run etc.

Also do we need a travel potty or what do you do when he needs a wee straight away in central London?! He's only peed into a potty.

My DS (2.5) has been like this since Nov. When he is baked below the waist he will go all day with no accidents, just takes himself off to the potty/toilet. But as soon as we put him in pants or clothes he just wets himself.

I think it's to do with the sensation of needing to go, it's more obvious to them when not wearing anything and when he has pants on he forgets.

I'm not pushing it with him now, he's still young, giving plenty of nappy free time and hoping one day (soon) he'll get used to pants too.

One day of success does not constitute potty trained in my book. He's young, but with the success you've had he sounds like he may be ready.

You could do half and half for a while I.e potty at home and nappies while out until he really gets it?

Te best way is to plan a good few days inside so you have easy access to a loo and spare clothes!

Thanks and I agree he's not potty trained so just meant using a potty well at home. I didn't word it very well!
I may try half and half if have to but I do think he's more than capable of learning not to need them in daytime and it's been very positive so far.
I think a good plan to have a bit more time inside for now to really get him used to the potty.
A health visitor told me 2 months ago he was ready but I wasn't convinced but I think if we can brave the wet trousers for a bit this might be the right time.
I may also find he loved the novelty of his potty today (he even rushed to use it right before fell asleep without prompting muttering potty as he went) and less keen tomorrow...

Im having this same problem so i'd like to see everyones advice! we've been potty training a week and as long as naked below waist everything including poo's goes in the potty. If she knickers on sh just wets herself, doesnt think to tell me she needs to go, ive carried a potty around the few occasions i've risked popping out but makes no diffrence, i have to make sure i get home before i think she might need another wee!
