How do you know when to ditch the nappy ?

My DS started taking off his nappy after a poo and helpfully(!!!) bringing it to me! I decided the risk of smearing everywhere was more stressful then the risk of a trial with potty training so went for it.

For about 4 days max he wet his pants on average 1 or 2 times a day but managed to pee in the potty about 5 times.

Very soon after that was 100% dry and even began to stay dry overnight too, but we haven't ditched night time nappies just yet.

About 6 months before all of this we tried to potty train in the summer but e showed no interest so we very quickly aborted. I don't see any harm in soon that if you find you have no success grin

I'd say give potty training a go. DD wouldn't even look at the potty when we first tried in the summer, now she goes on the toilet no problem.

DD is now 26 months and starts pulling at her nappies. We have a potty and tell her that if she wants a wee or a poo she could tell us and then we can take her to the potty. I talk to her when I have a wee or poo and sometimes get her to sit on the potty just so she can copy Mummy. (Only a parent could have this conversation). We also let her sit on it when she goes to the bath. When is it good to say no to nappies and start get some pants. Is there a key step ?
