Weeing in unusual places

My DS (30 months) has been without nappies at home for the last 4 months - he doesn't wear pants, just bare bummed and quite happily takes himself off to the potty whenever he needs to and we've never had any accidents.

Because he never asks to go and is very independant (read stubborn) I've only just started taking him out of the house in big boy pants - and as long as i sit him on a toilet every couple of hours then its all ok. He doesn't ask and will say no if i ask if he needs to but think this is just because he finds it boring or will interupt what he's doing.

However in the last week i have found him weeing in very strange places round the house, first all over the coffee table (with spray all around as he obvisouly enjoyed watering the house!), then down the back on the radiator and an attempt at putting his willy in the hose and peeing in there too - is this normal, do i ignore, assuming telling him off is wrong but not sure what i should do, maybe he's just not ready but been good for so long -anyone else had similar?

I think it sounds like he's experimenting! I remember glancing out of the kitchen window and seeing DS (3) pulling up his pants and trousers, with a puddle at his feet on the patio, he then proceeded to ride his trike through it several times to make wheel marks!

I think you have to let him know that weeing anywhere in the house except potty or toilet is a mistake, and makes a mess which needs to be cleaned up each time. If you catch him doing it you can get the cleaning materials and he can help you clean. You don't need to get cross or shout, just say it in a firm no nonsense voice 'weeing on the coffee table is a mistake, your potty is the place to wee. Now we need to clean it up.'

Thanks for the reply, nice to know it happens to others as well - will definitely give the advice a go.
