Training Pants

I've just started to potty train DS and am thinking of getting some training pants. My m.i.l. takes the view that DC are either in nappies or not and that training pants are a waste of time. What does everyone else think? Has anyone had any success with training pants and if so what ones would you recommend?

I agree with your mil - it is just another word for an inferior nappy - the toddler doesn't get the sensation of 'wet' and training pants aren't the same as underpants. The other issue I have with trainers is that they are so messy when the toddler poos ...

I used the Huggies 'Little Walkers' and the 'Easy Up' ones - no luck...

Thanks for that. DS is far from being reliable during the day and is a very heavy wetter. I would'nt chance any outing without putting a nappy on him. From that point of view I don't think any type of training pant would be able to cope!
