Potty training

My DS has a really weird toilet training problem

DS has just turned three and has been toilet trained for about six months now. for the last three weeks he has inexplicably started to do really small poos/stains in his pants. he seems to have a bit of trouble going to the loo- there is often a long build up involving lots of frowning and dancing around looking uncomfortable and preoccupied, and insisting he doesn't need the loo, when he obviously does. then sometime later - with him still insisting he doesn't need - he does a small amount in his pants. if i insist on taking him to the loo to try to avoid this happening he will willingly sit there but nothing will come. I am getting a bit worried and frustrated and am pretty fed up of cleaning poo off pants. What is going on here? I don't know whether to get angry at him (i think not) as I sense he doesn't meant it to happen and has somehow lost some control. Where do i go from here?
It all started when we were on holiday and he was out of his normal routine but that was two weeks ago [sad. I'd appreciate any shared experiences/advice on how to react.

Soft fruit and lots of water will help this. It's constipation, it leads to wind. Two weeks ago holiday with funny food will do it.

Bananas with breakfast, apples with lunch, peaches or oranges with tea, three days, will sort this one out.

Yep its constipation. He will have a hard build up inside and the softer poo is squeezing out round it.

Do not get annoyed with him whatever you do.

Don't give him bananas though...will bung him up more. Plums, apricots, apples etc much better.

Agree soft fruit are better but bananas make DS go for some reason. One at breakfast and he's gone by 10am!

Grapes are quite good for this too. Especially as toddlers will eat them by the bucketload if left with them.
