Potty training

advice on night time potty training please - 5 wet beds in 5 nights so far...

DD is 4 in a couple of weeks. Only dry in day at 3. Night nappies always wet by morning still, but she was keen to stop wearing them. I knew that quite often she was peeing when she woke up, but didn't know if it was happening in night too.

Well I've found out now - I'd lifted her on to the potty when I went to bed, but she still did another pee at 3-4am ish - only a bit, and she then did some more in the potty too. But it really upset her to wet the bed and it's knackering me out, especially combined with bad sleeper dd2 who generally is up for the day at 5.30am.

So went out to by pull ups today - and she got really upset about having to wear them and didn't want them etc. She just said she'd be quicker next time etc. Feel like I've dented her confidence as well as upsetting her.

Eventually persuaded her to try the pull ups - but don't quite know what to do from here. Should I just wait until she actually does have a dry nappy at night? Is she just not ready? Can you get any kind of washable training pants which would do the job well enough and not leak??

Help - feeling confused about what to do next.....

She is not ready
wait until she is dry in a pull up
my ds2 is dry 5/7 nights. Wakes some nights himself to wee but still sometimes weed in the pull up
it generally takes a year from dry in day to dry at night in my humble experience.
Good luck and no rush

my ds is 4 in a few weeks too and i have been wondering the exact same thing. I didnt want him starting school still wearing nappies at night. He has mentioned a few times that he is a big boy and shouldnt be wearing nappies anymore. I promised when i broke up for the summer we would try to lose the nappies. Since this i have however become pregnant and am suffering from terrible sickness so couldnt possibly get up in the night for him.

To cut the story shorter, i have decided to leave it a few more weeks until i am better but have to admit, i have no idea where to start!

Sorry i wasnt much help, i just wanted to let you know that you arent alone. Lots of friends have also told me not to worry about his age, they know lots of children his age that are not yet dry at night.

Thanks piffle and moonminmama - I know there is no rush - her friends are probably about half still in nappies at night. It was just heartbreaking when she got so upset about being made to wear a pull up.... After a couple of nights, she now seems slightly happier about it - and is waking up to do pees in the night still - so a step in the right direction. Am wondering if trainer pants might work for her, as wouldn't seem so like a nappy.....
