Potty training

OK, so it looks as though he'll be using nappies when he goes to school in September. Does anyone have any ideas at all for getting him to use the potty/loo?

He just will not. I really have tried everything.

I've spoken to the school and they're OK with it, but my patience is stretched to the limit. (I'm very careful to appear calm).

He won't say why. He just says he doesn't like it. He never wets, just holds and holds until I put a nappy on. This is for wees as well as poos. If I withdraw nappies completely he shouts and cries and screams and eventually wets himself.

You could make a game of it and give him something to aim for. You could also remove yourself from the responsibility and make his dad approach it with him, given that he has the same tackle. If you have a garden, the two of them could literally have a pissing contest.

I'm sure you've already tried this, but I read somewhere about cutting out the crotch of a nappy & getting them to sit on the potty - presumably the thinking is the comfort of the nappy waistband remains... Good luck LadyCad.

mad as it sounds, I actually like the pissing contest idea! Sounds like a way to make it fun. Have you tried bribery?
