Going out and about

I am potty training and DS is doing well at home but always has an accident if I take him out without a nappy. I am not sure how to do the next stage really. My sister in law said she just takes a potty with her everywhere but I can't understand how that works if you are in a shop or something. I want to go to the library with DS this afternoon but can't imagine getting the potty out so he can poo/pee in amongst the books.

What do other people do?

Take the potty with you, plus lots of kitchen/loo roll and nappy sacks. I just mop up the wee in the potty and pop in a nappy sack. Or buy a portable potty!
i have had one or two looks, but hey-ho, it is only baby wee
