Hello,
I'm new to all this so I hope this is the right place to ask. I'm due in December and live in Winchmore Hill, North London.
I'm looking for mum and baby groups in the area - baby massage, baby swimming, and just some places where I will be able to meet other new mums. I'm feeling a bit scared that I'll be stuck on my own like a little loner!
Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Thank you!
I have been searching for stuff all morning and I've actually found a few groups - hope they are still running when I need them. Play Pals, Baby Rhyme and maybe even baby swimming with borntoswim.co.uk.
I'll let you know if I find anything else.
Thanks again.

Hi Mrs Khan,

Try the NCT website, I have pasted you a link: www.nct.org.uk/in-your-area/course-finder. Search for Postnatal groups in Enfield borough. I know they organise stuff like baby massage, weekly meet-ups and mother-baby drop in sessions. I am due in Oct and soon to be moving back to Southgate, we can all catch up for a coffee sometime

NCT Bumps and Babies Group meets Tuesdays 2pm - 4pm in St Michaels Church Hall, Gordon Hill EN2. People from Winchmore Hill go along. It's drop in and a good place to start networking. You can get info on other activities there .. and a hot cup of tea! Just drop in or you can ring Jean for details - 07949 244 314

I did an NCT antenatal course in Enfield and 3 of the mums on it were in your area - there seems to be lots going on. Going to NCT Bumps sounds like a good idea. Also find out about the Council's Children's Centres - my local ones here in Haringey have lots of stuff, and I had groups every day to go to.

Also, have you found the Enfield local board?

Hiya,

They do baby swimming at the southgate swimming pool, the next course is starting from January.

There's baby rhyme time at 2:30pm on fridays Southgate library (the one in southgate college, near southgate station roundabout).
I go there it's nice and busy but not too busy iyswim.
There's also rhyme time at palmers green library 10 am on mondays.
Enfield library 2pm (or 2:30?) on Thursdays (very busy).

Baby massage for free at the ridgeway birth centre in chase farm. (0208 375 1948 - Sylvia runs the course of 3 fridays from 12:00 to 13:00 pm.)

there's a first time mum group that the health visitor should have signed you onto or you can ask them at the clinic about it, though my lo was brn in june and im still waiting for the invite...

NCT do mums and bumps coffee meetings where you can just drop in, I've not managed to make it to any of these.

Hello

I have recently set up a local community website www.n21online.com. Its very early days for the site, I will be marketing it actively from February, with leaflets and posters, but I am hoping to start recruiting some mums to start posting stuff on the site, as a way of making contact with other mums in the area etc. If you could oblige by signing up and being a guinea pig, I would really appreciate it!

My oldest daughter is 25, I'm off to visit her in Australia next week, but I remember only too well my first winter when she was small and being lonely and unsure about what to do with his mite all day!

Best wishes

Hi, I know this is an old thread but if there are any new mums or mums to be in the Southgate/Winchmore Hill area that fancy getting to know others in the same boat, please let me know. My first baby is due at the end of April and I am 37 but don't really know anyone local to me - so if there's anyone out there I'd love to hear from you.

Hi, my lo is two weeks old. I went to NCT bumps & babies on Tuesday, 2-4pm in the church hall at the bottom of Gordon Hill in Enfield. It's £2.50. It was really nice to see other mums and share experiences. I'll definitely be going back and am on the hunt for more groups to join.
Might see you there.

Hello! I live in New York and have a 9 week old little boy. My husband and I are going to be in Enfield for two weeks to visit my husband's family and introduce the little one to his British family! I don't want to bring our carseat (I have heard they get really damaged from being checked on an airplane and are no longer safe to use). We will need a carseat for the couple weeks we will be in the UK, but I was hoping to find a used one! I know in New York there are websites where people pass along their used baby things. Is there something similar in the Enfield/Southgate area? My husband's family could come and pick it up anytime in the next month. Any advice on where to find one would be so appreciated! - Jacqueline Taylor

Try freecycle - I think there's an Enfield one but also a Haringey one. My mum got two travel systems for DS1 5 years ago which included car seats - we don't drive so they weren't for full time use.

Welcome to our boutique swim school.
We like to do things a bit differently at 3S Swim School. Firstly, all of our instructors are former swimmers with a vast knowledge about the subject. They are all ASA qualified and trained to specific, high standards that we require. They are always in the water with the students, ready to demonstrate all of the strokes, drills and provide all the support needed to swim beautifully and to create a non-stress environment which results in quick progression. We believe that swimming is a life skill and that everyone should be able to swim confidently and without stress. Swimming is fun and children should be taught that from an early age so that they can always enjoy it.
Please contact us for further details.
