Ladies, babies, and bumps, welcome to the new thread!

Should we start this off with an update from us all like last time? I thought that was nice, especially for those who get little chance to catch up.

Hello! Thanks for new Thread Bob
Update for us:
Thomas now 8 and a bit months.
Loves his food, not refused anything yet
approx 9.2KG when last weighed
Crawling loads and v mobile
Loves to pull to standing
2 teeth, think more on the way!
Very smiley, very happy, very cuddly
Loves Nursery (2 days p/w)
Very Loved (wink)

2 Questions from me (on new thread!!):

  1. As per prev thread, is it ok about ankles bending when he pulls to standing? Anyone else experienced this?

  2. Any ideas how I can support his head when we go on holiday on Saturday? What I mean is in his new car seat, sometimes if he falls asleep, his head sort of flops slightly - as ours does if we fall asleep when sitting in a car - am sure his head will be fine, and isn't gonna fall off or anything! But just wanted to ensure he is comfy

Thanks for all help and advice - best go and do some work now!!!!

Our update

Me and DP are well, he got a promotion so is much happier at work, we are discussing actively TTC (temp. monitoring and all) as we've realised how much we want it. We are also looking into moving house, which is exciting too.
O is scarily active, can stand alone for 5 seconds at most but is brave in trying to do so, can cross a room crawling at alarming speed , tries to 'abseil' out of his cot and and is generally very exhausting!
He is eating 'proper' food, and loves anything we give him, but has lost his appetite lately and his weight has plateaued (maybe due to aforementioned activity!)
He has two front bottom teeth, and new ones on the way, and his toothbrush is one of his favourite 'toys'.
We have been lame with classes as he always tends to be asleep or sleepy when we arrive, but do go to a soft playgroup at the 'arches centre', which is fab as they have a nursery creche so I can go swimming there too.

Brownie - I don't think you should be worried , O puts his feet at odd angles too. babies are very flexible! You could get a headhugger for the carseat? Or improvise with a rolled up sheet? mothercare and toys r us sell them and they are universal so fit most carseats.

Afternoon!! Thanks for the new thread BOB, and love the title . BROWNIE: agree with BOB, it's normal for babies/toddlers to place their feet at odd angles (all toddlers are a little knock-kneed apparently), and seem to recall dd1 having the same bendy feet . He sounds a very happy chap! Lots going on for you too BOB by the sounds of things; the best of luck with ttc
Our update...
Libby is a happy, usually contented baby, though is getting increasingly cross with the world when it doesn't go her way . She's almost 20ibs, on the 50th percentile weight-wise, and 80th height-wise. No rolling, no cruising, no crawling, but lots of shuffling and swivelling, that enables her to move the length of the room . At nursery everyday but Wednesday, and making lots of friends there . 'Dada' 'baba' and 'mmmmm' are her only words as yet. Looking forward to next few months, as remember that (from dds) 10 months is my favourute age (why, I can't remember!!)
Right, best get back to work duties, boss is 'around'!

Hi all & thanks for new thread.

Nathaniel is now a very active little 8-month old boy - crawling, climbing, playing with everything that's not a toy and could be dangerous (I've just bought hundreds of plug covers). He's a good eater, but currently having a massive teething spell so doesn't have much of an appetite. He has one tooth so far, but expecting several more shortly (hopefully!).

I'm going back to work full time on Monday (eek!) and Nathaniel will be starting nursery full time on 4th September. In meantime my cousin and her boyfriend are going to be his temporary au pairs. WE've tried out nursery for a morning and he LOVES it so I'm not worried about him settling in too much.

He's a gorgeous easy-going little boy and I love every minute I spend with him. THis morning he was just sitting on the floor examining (and chewing) a puzzle piece for a good ten minutes and it was just so lovely to watch him looking so grown-up - he's definitely not a baby anymore.

No much on the talking front, so far only da da and mumbo jumbo.

Anyway must run as he's climbing the television (not a good thing!)

Hope everyone is well!

J xx

Our update:

Sean is walking, oh yes!!!! Aaargh! Check out our new file on Yahoo. He set off yesterday afternoon, and now we can't get him off his feet.
He has one tiddly little tooth sticking through.
He eats absolutely anything, especially if it comes from somebody elses plate or the floor!
Not talking a huge amount, although has his chatterbox weeks when he doesn't shut up! Mostly 'bubbubb', but now a few 'mummumm's thrown in for good measure.
Weighs 17 or 18lb, on 25th Centile, and 75th for height.
Tongue is always sticking out!
Ooh, and as I'm writing this, he's just clapped, although not sure if it was intentional!

DP starts back at work after bank holiday, so I'll be on my own with the boys. Very much Yippee! but with a bit of trepidation in there too.

BEKs, yes 30th is just as good for us.

Nice new thread! Thanks Bob

Right our update......Jess is usually a good happy baby and is crawling and cruising with gusto, can climb the stairs and we've had a few 'no hands' standing moments too, but she is 10 months old now (it is a nice age Diege!). She is a complete chatterbox, loves eating, loves animals, loves milk. Erm... think shes on the 50th centile for weight and 25th for height, so she's 'portly'! No signs of any teeth but she's dribbling for England

Bob, nice to hear from you, lovely news about you both talking of ttc
GG, Well done Sean! Will go and have a look on Yahoo in a min (not that I don't believe you!)
Best wishes for going back to work LilJ!
Diege, hope first day back wasn't too hectic! Are we going to get any new holiday photos on Yahoo? Oh and opinions on BB? Who do you want to win? I'm going to risk being ostracised and say I want Aisleyne to win!
Brownie, rolled up towel for carseat? They sell those special cushions designed for carseats but don't buy one as they're rubbish! Which carseat have you got? Jess still isn't 20lbs yet so we're holding off but she's starting to get frustrated in her rearfacing one. Not long now though! I'm sure bendy ankles are fine, maybe you could point it out to HV next time you see her? Just keep shoes and socks off him as much as you can and I'm sure they'll be fine
We're off on holiday on Friday so getting things ready and making copious lists, but we've got Grandma's funeral first so will probably get into the holiday mood once that's over with. We've got a service in the church tomorrow night for the church to recieve the body, think my uncle is staying with her in the church through the night and the service and burial is on Thursday. Just want it to be over now. Anyway don't want to make this new thread sad again so no sad face emoticons please!
Hope everybody is well, not heard from Chacha for a while, hope you're ok, speak later x

Thanks BoB - the other thread was getting somewhat long!

Jonty's 8.5 months, been crawling since 5.5, cruising happily, but hopefully won't walk properly for ages yet (fingers crossed)! He loves his food (so far), and is looked after by DH while I go out to win the bread.

And something so exciting (and dreadfully simple - I'm almost embarrassed to mention it!) Bedtimes have been traumatic for ages, with DS willing to yell for up to an hour after being put in his cot. However, for the last 4 nights I've added a teddy in for him to cuddle - and he's been silent as a mouse! He lies there, still wide awake, clutching the teddy until he drops off! I think, TBH, I was always afraid of putting something like that in with him before because of the whole cot death thing/smothering themselves etc, but now that he's bigger I don't think that's as much of an issue - and so far it's worked like a charm!

Anyway, hi to everyone, hope the funeral goes ok, Rodeo.

Evening! Really good to read everyone's updates; wow, can anyone remember how they felt this time last year?? Seems a very distant memory to me! RODEO: hope service and funeral go OK, must be v.v tough. Will be good to have the holiday after iyswim - is this your one with a friend, or am I way off radar ?? lol at 'portly' Jess . Oh and you know BB, well I'm starting to take rather a shining to Richard of all people, and Nicki is starting to irritate me more than I think she's likeable; am feeling v.sorry for Ash too, though still think there's this whole centre of attention thing going on
CHULLY: aww, a teddy!! Just one word of warning. Make sure you have a duplicate when he gets older , perhaps replace now with a teddy that you know you can get 2 of, or is it too late??!! I remember feeling sick to the core when 'mummy rabbit' went missing (now found), or 'David' as dd2 has recently started calling 'it'. We also have 'Milkshake' and 'Glory' (her names) that always have to be packed for hols!
Well, dds 1&2 are in the new nunk beds tonight, and went to sleep with remarkably little fuss!! Next step is to move cot into other bedroom now it's free!! Feel like things are really moving along!
Well, have to go into work tommorrow, rather than 'work from home' on my usual wed . Also have to work Sat this week , with stupid waste of time Clearing stuff (those who didn't get the 'right' grades) (I'm not bitter...)
Right, hoping for a good sleep tonight!!
Speak tommorrow!

Morning!! Well, a bad night last night, with dd1 waking 3 times and coming into our room - I've worked out that at best we have a 1 in 3 chance of an unbbroken sleep in the diege household, though better than some I'm sure! Just grates a bit that it's the 5 year old! Off to work soon, so just 'signing in' in case I don't get a chnaCE later! Oh and had really weird dream thst I had another baby - a boy called Jaime, and had a major search round for newborn avent teats . He was gorgeous though!

Morning all

Rodeo hope everything goes as well as can be expected on Thursday. Hope you have a great holiday too.

GG excellent 30th it is then! Never been to Worthing so don't blame me if it pants Any one else up for a trip to the south coast?

Chully Thomas had a teddy from birth and loves a muslin, he can often be found with it over his head when sleeping, gives me heart failure everytime but as Diege rightly says make sure you canreplace it if lost, we lost the first teddy which was a Steiff hanky with a head on it bought by a friend and it cost me £17 to replace it - ouch!!!

Our update Thomas is 9.5 motnhs, he's been crawling since last Thursday, and managed to pull himself to his feet on Friday, thankfully only the once though although he does love to stand and bounce but hates you holding his hands - doh!

He has 6 teeth, 4 on the bottom 2 on the top with another 4 pushing through, he seems to cut them in pairs.

He weighs 25lbs so is 75th centile for weight and 75th or more for height, I have to very tall boys on my hands. He eats anything and everything including tiny pieces of what ever he can find on the floor and we've also found him heading for the cats bowl more than once this week

He chatters constantly and can say mum with monotonous regularity with lots more syllables than strictly necessary, he can also say dad occasionally and Ben, although finds screaming in Bens direction more favourable.

All in all he's a lovely baby, and he and Ben make a dynamic duo who adore each other - I'm a very lucky lady!

Things here are hectic, the work has started on the loft but the builders are nice guys so shouldn't cause me too many problems hopefully.

Ben is bored of the holidays now but we'll get throguh them I'm sure. Sorry for the me post, but have run out of time as Ben is clamouring to playon the pc, hope everyone else is well, love to all Beks

Hey! Just a quickie from me, checking in whilst at work!
Rodeo - hope tomorrow goes ok, thoughts with you - and have a fab holiday!
With regards to car seat - will probably use a rolled up towel - the seat is a M&P Pro Tech - and he has been in it for a couple of weeks now, and seems to love the new view!
Off to see my Grandad tonight

GG - what a fab video clip! Don't think Thomas will be that far behind Sean either! He loves standing and is desperate to talk those first few steps!

Diege - good to have you back - enjoy ploughing your way through clearing , and just think of those poor souls who think their life and future is over cos the bombed out!!! (I say this with feeling as I was once one of them!!!!!)

Once I get back off holidays, we must start sorting out the finer details of the Stratford meet! At this stage, I am not even sure of the definites! (Except me, of course! think Rodeo is def, GG? Beks, think you are too - yes?....anyone else.......

Once we've got definites, will start putting details on Yahoo - right, best be off!

Thomas has a teddy too, one of which he has 2 of (more luck than judgement! he was bought 2!) Would definitely advise getting duplicates of fave teddies - to avoid upset later on!

Ok, will sign off again now (more nicely and less abrupt this time!!!! )

Speak later, lots of love (!!!!!)

Quick update from me as monster child is destroying everything in her path..

Noo was 10 months yesterday . She is kind of crawling, but mainly gets around with a combination of creeping, crawling, rolling, spinning, sitting and bouncing. Still not really interested in standing but has lifted herself onto the feet whilst resting on her hands a few times.

Eating well, although appetite goes up and down. Two teeth so far bottom front, although we think a few more may be on the way judging by her mood/nappy/ear pulling/chewing/drooling.

Can say mumma and daddy, and chatters a lot of gobbledegook. Is very good at understanding a lot of words, which always amazes me.

Sleeping well still (apart from this morning - yawn), although we now find her sitting up in her cot at times.

Is on 98th centile for height and weight, and is very good at swimming. Also very good at screaming and crying today, so must dash...

Morning all.

Thinking of you today Rodeo. 's for you.

PMSL BEKs at Thomas heading for cats bowl! Can you imagine the nappies afterwards, ewww, yuk! Your description of the two boys together is enough to melt anyones heart. Looking forward to the 30th already, I've been to Worthing a few times, but the last time must have been about 15years ago, so I have no idea what its like either!

Chully, I think the 2 teddies advice is very good. I remember my nephew losing his 1st teddy onto the train tracks when he was with us. My brother never forgave her for that.

We had some Venture photos done yesterday. Owen was such a pain before, refusing to have photos taken, screaming kicking, being generally horrible, then afterwards complained that not enough photos had been taken. Aaaarrrggghhhhhhh! How do you win? Our credit cards definitely going to take a bit of a hammering when we get them, the ones we want come to £2500!!!!! So I think some reconsidering is gong to be needed between now and the viewing!

Speak later, GG xx

Morning,
Got to get a few things ready for later so I'll try and make this quick (yeah right!) Thanks for all your thoughts and wishes for today, looking forward to it in a strange way. Spent last night with my mum, aunts, uncles and cousins which was nice though the service was quite sad, Grandad started crying when her coffin came out which of course set us all off. Lots of the parish turned out too so expect they'll be lots there today too.
Anyway, it was lovely reading everyone's updates We must try and get down to London again soon (they may not be as compliant as last time though!)
Have a lovely time on your hols Brownie! Yes good idea, we'll sort the finer details when we get back
GG at those prices! Have you added an extra '0' by accident?!
We're off to Tenby for the week Diege, going tomorrow. We're going with my mum and her partner and my sister and her boyfriend, it was originally planned to celebrate my mum's 50th in May but I think we're all just looking forward to the break now Hope you had a better night last night. Good luck with clearing this week, my step-bro gets his a-level results today, think he wants to do sports science. He answered the door to me and my sis after getting out the shower not long ago and our eye's nearly popped out of our heads! Where did that body come from?! We had to mentally slap ourselves
Beks, glad Jess isn't the only one with disgusting eating habits! She makes a beeline for the catbowls and thinks all her christmasses have come at once if she finds a little biscuit! The amount of stuff I have to fish out of her mouth!
Well that wasn't so quick, hope you all have lovely weeks, I'll miss you all! Will try and get on later but I may be up to my eyes in packing (I, so far, have packed nothing!)
Speak soon x x x

I have posted pics of my friends new man, he's gorgeous (her baby that is..lol) just like his mummy!

O has recovered from the bad eating phase, and is now going though a massive sleeping phase, he still sleeps though the night but has several naps during the day, some 3 hours long! Maybe it's all the activity wearing him out!

Hope everyone is well.. dashing off for a blood teat now! eek!

I ended up spending 3 hours on the phone, being told they couldn't do anything until tomorrow, calling back all indignant, then giving up.
looks like O will be having a cold jar or just random bits of fruit tonight, and us a takeaway!

Is it normal to be losing your mental agility after a baby? I put it down to hormones, but now I'm not sure, I often struggle to remember what I mean to say, and have to stop mid sentence to remember what word I was about to say...
I'm also appaling at crosswords, though I used to beat DP when we did races to complete them (sad I know..lol)
I even lost at scrabble twice last weekend, and I never lose to DP.
Very frustrating, and I don't want to be reduced to giving curt responses in conversations, but also don't wan't to come across as a bumbling idiot..
please tell me you find the same?

Right, I've got 4 mins before the oven timer goes off, lets see how much I can write

Love the thread title BoB

Our catch-up - Ash is now just over 9 mths and wants to walk everywhere, either holding on to furniture or us. He is getting confident letting go with one hand and has occasionally let go with both though usually by accident and it usually ends in disaster Also found him half way up the stairs today (I MUST remember to shut the stairgate, I MUST remember to shut the stairgate, I MUST.........................)
He is usually a very happy, smiley laidback little boy and just as nosy as his sister was! He will eat most things and really wants to feed himself. He has followed up his Pizza Hut experience by wolfing down Swedish meatballs in Ikea yesterday!
He is still bf apart from his last drink before bedtime. Still wakes at least once most nights though we got hardline a few weeks ago and now he only gets water. When we did this with Tessa it took her 3 nights to decide that it wasn't worth waking, its taking rather longer for Ash to get the message

I am still reading the thread but finding it VERY hard to post though this may get better soon, will fill in details when I can!!

Rodeo - I hope today was as you hoped.
We can swap camping stories when you get back, though having written that I'm not sure if you are camping this time.

OK that took MUCH longer than 4 mins but children are being quiet so I came back on!

bob - I remember hearing or seeing a report a while back that a mothers IQ does actually lower after having a baby. It was something to do with having mostly baby talk compared to pre-baby when you have a lot more adult conversation. I know presonally that I do find I often can't find the right words and feel quite illiterate at times!

Good to hear you're getting a bit of time for some rest nova. Just remember to keep looking after yourself, although I'm sure you are. And you too ChaCha.

Rodeo hope today went ok & that you have finally finished packing and are now sitting with your feet up and a glass of wine in hand!

GG ouch to those prices, blimey I thought I'd gone mad when I spent £300, that's a point must post some of those on the yahoo site. We're looking forward to the 30th too, must send Tex and e-mail and see if she's coming.

Nova hope you enjoyed your rest this afternoon

I take it Chacha is on hols now as I haven't seen her post for a while - it's really hard to keep up with Ben on holiday - roll round school time

Tessasmum good to see you post too, Ash sounds like a bundle of mischief but as adorable as ever. Eek at the walking though, Tom has worked out how to stand up this week, but I just want to shout "Timber" when he insists on letting go with both hands.

Bob forget it hun this is the real deal now, you'll never finish another conversation, forget talking on the phone as that signals trash the house to munchkins or their need to speak to you urgently, the only question you will ever be able to answer is "Why?" and any answer you give will lead to another "Why?" Mental agility forget it resort to babbling incoherently - it means people give you a wide berth but hey we can't form a sentence these days anyway
O sounds like he is on good form and growing at a rate o knots by the amount he's sleeping also all the physical activity does wear them out for a while.

Brownie can't remember if I wished you happy holidays, if not have a good one and yes I'm up for Stratford, only thing is I've got something happening every weekend so will probably only get there for the Sunday now - boo!

Right off to put my ironing away, my mum did a huge mountain of it for me today while Tom was asleep and I took my dad to pick up his car from the garage.

Hope everyone is well, take care Beks
