Hiya.. just just going to ask on the other thread if there was a post natal thread set up. Hope everyone is ok and the little bubbies doing well.

We're going to register Talia today.. still haven't agreed on a middle name though!

Got some bad(ish) news today.. it appears that Talia has DiGeorge's Syndrome which is the cause of her heart defect. We have her ECG on Thursday so I guess we'll know how severe it is.

Reading about it on the internet isn't good and every site I go to seems worse then the previous one.

Apart from that she is doing well and putting on weight (like her daddy). Some pics of her here with dd1 as well

PinkTulips · 15/08/2006 13:39

hi micku, the girls are gorgeous hows dd1 taking to talia?

so sorry about the diagnosis of DiGeorges Syndrome, can't claim to know anything about it i'm afraid but try not to let info on the net scare you too much, it doesn't always give a balanced viewpoint. glad shes doing well with the weight gain and feeding though

DD1 loves her to bits.. at times there are little flashes of jealousy or rather wanting attention. This morning when I was winding dd2 DH also had to carry dd1 and pretend to wind her as well.

Dd1 has now moved into her own room so she feels a lot happier that she has her own space to play with her toys etc and she actually made her bed this morning and was really proud of that.(Lets hope it lasts!!) lol

Pink how are you managing with the pushchair and sling combo?

We had to go and get a buggy board for dd1 otherwise you would see a very harrased micku running after her in the shopping centre.

hi girls and babies
Micku sorry about your news
I agree with PT - internet is a slippery slope.

Well I tell you how someone cannot enjoy breastfeeding... mastitis - check, bleeding nipples - check, baby on the breast 24hrs non-stop - check, engorged breasts - check, c-section scar - check... got them all! We are battling on, gave a small formula top-up today to see if it would help a) my breasts b) get him to take a bigger feed but problems latching on since so better not do that again! From memory I remember this stage doesn't last long though. And I have just opened a lovely bottle of NZ Pinot Grigio - mummy juice!

kitegirl if miles is really sucky and feeding 24/7 i'd try using a dummy every now and again when he wants to be latched on and your certain he's not hungry... had to do it with dd as she was trying to feed constantly and i was in agony. luckily caleb doesn't comfort suck so i've not had to resort to a dummy with him but it was a godsend with dd.

micku... sling and buggy managing well so far but haven't yet had too many major expeditiions on my own so that may change. we ight be moving soon out into the country and i'd consider getting a double for going on walks then but at the minute i haven't found a need for one... love the sound of those buggy boards though, are they very expensive?

hello Snow, haven't heard from you in ages!

have you got some Lansinoh cream for the nipples? it's fantastic stuff! can sympathise with the bad latch... calebs is awful too, his chin is really far back (thanks to his daddies genes!) and he doesn't seem to like having too much of my nipple in his mouth so he just grabs the end, luckily my nipples were well toughened by a year of demand feeding missy and her barracuda latch so coping quite well now except for the odd toe curling moment.

booby its srange isn't it, seems like yesterday i was whinging that he'd never be born. oddly enough i miss the bump! didn't with missy but this time i keep expecting to feel him moving in my tummy and realising 'oh yeah, he's on the couch!' god now i sound like a lunatic

hello girls!!!

wow I have missed you all so much! I am going to try to get on here every day even if I only have 5 minutes!

Alex takes soooo much delicious looking after! I spend all day feeding and expressing and holding him as he really isnt happy unless he is in mine or Sal's arms. I know in a couple of weeks it will settle down a bit and I will be able to be a bit more reliable with my computer time!

Micku I am sorry to hear about Talia's diagnosis. You must be so worried. I second what the other girls have said though - a lot of times looking things up on line makes you even more scared as they often publisize the worst case scenarios. Am thinking about you though lots.

Glad to hear everyone else is doing well and all the little babies are well. Anybody hear from Arabica? Things move so quickly on MN if you miss a week or so you feel totally out of the loop!! Fill me in!

PinkTulips · 16/08/2006 23:54

haven't heard from arabica yet, she might have gone to july thread but i'm sure shed have popped into the 'Due' thread to update so chances are shes dealing with esja's operations and stuff.

how the feeding going eeny? have things improved a bit yet?

I hope esja is alright.

well he is eating loads so I spend all day feeding and expressing and holding him! he is much more healthy though although he still very clearly wants to be in mummy's tummy! I just cant put him down really!

How is Caleb? When did his cord stump fall off? Alex's hasnt yet, tomorrow is day 10 and I want it to go, it makes me nervous!

8 days, it goes really gunky and yuk first and after it falls off theres still a scab that bleeds a little.... quite frightening isn't it?

calebs getting HUGE! he was 9lbs when he was weughed at one week and he's just grown out of his newborn babygroes hes still very calm which is lovely.

sal sounds like he's being superdad... your so lucky

I have to say Sal is amazing. He helps out so much - as much as he can really!

the cord thing is scary. I just want it over with! thanks for warning me about the scab and things that would have freaked me out otherwise.

god it seems like ages before Alex is even able to WEAR newborn babygros!! I cant wait!! Caleb is going to give you strong arms!

PinkTulips · 17/08/2006 00:17

yeah, try carrying him on one sideand dd on the other!

talking bout things that to freak you out.... discovered much to my shock and dismay when caleb was 4 days that he can already roll over had to bring dp in to witness it as i thought i might be hallucinating from sleep deprivation! looks like i'm going to have my hands full with him moving around far too soon!
