Can I still join this thread even though there will probably be at least another 20 threads before E goes into her next stage car seat?

Eliza it'll be a while before J is into his too but I managed to get a cheap one from Kiddicare in a sale. Grin It's now taking up valuable space in J's room. Hmm

I can't believe I had to buy more car seats actually. We had loads from our first two kids but apparently they have expiry dates so J got all new ones.

Stunt l have never heard of expiry dates for car seats where do you find this out?

Lots of teething going on and still no teeth grrrrr! I'm not looking forward to buying the next stage car seat, is it just me or does anyone else feel overwhelmingly responsible when choosing things like this?

Good finish mm I had just typed out my post and lost it, luckily it was nice and short.

My friend that I have known since I was 11 done the same with S's christening, she txt me to say she was taking her little sisters to Cadbury world, she had double booked, I couldn't believe it, Cadbury world isn't going anywhere but S only gets christened once.

I have just read a review of my pushchair. I say review, it has pictures and review periodically from the first 6 months.

Baby is Oscar. Born end of October. So I was like, awwww how cute. He has the same pushchair.

Then I read the review and face palmed.

The woman is thick. So many things. First of all, she reckoned at 24lb and 6 months he had outgrown the seat. I still have the newborn insert in O's seat, and he isn't small FFS!

Anyway, I digress. When looking at car seats, I thought that about the expiry date thing. I mean, what is the point in getting a group 1/2/3 seat that lasts up to 12 or whatever, when it should be replaced long before then?!

Good finish MM and I'm another who'd never heard of car seat expiry dates....

Checking in, missed the whole end of the last thread.

Ms sleep is wearing me out, tonight it's actually making me feel ill. Well I don't know ir I'm feeling ill already and the lack of sleep isn't helping. But I hate it when I feel like this, I'm shattered and awake in the middle of the night and it makes me feel panicky ill.
It took until 10pm to get M to sleep and I ended up feeding to sleep. Swore that if she woke, I would only cuddle and put back down until at least 4hre after sleep. She just woke after 2.5hrs and after picking up, rocking etc I've ended up just sticking my boob in her mouth to get her back to sleep. There's no way she should need boob after only 2.5 hours Sad
DHs snoring is annoying me and he's hardly making a noise and it feels like my sleep and dreams are blending in to my awakeness, hard to describe but I just feel yucky and anxious ill.

I don't really expect you all to do anything, just wanted to write it down for an anxiety release. Hopefully make me feel better.

She's now asleep again so I'm going to attempt some more sleep

Detective from about four my DS1 and DS2 ended up in booster seats anyway.

Some car seats have an expiry date printed on them, otherwise it's six years. I have a 6.5 year gap between DS2 and J so none of the ones we had for DS2 are still usable. It's to do with degradation of the plastic. In the event if an accident the car seat is subject to high forces and the straps can break out of the seat. There's a scary crash test video on YouTube where you see the dummy fly right out of the seat. It does depend on where the seat has been stored. If it has been in a loft or car then it has been subjected to thermal stress, if it has been at a consistent temperature then the plastic won't have degraded at fast. I have to say I was a bit skeptical that this was a licence to print money way to sell more car seats until I asked my mum to check DS1's baby seat which was ten years old. When she took it out of the loft the straps pulled right out of the body of the car seat by hand, the plastic crumbled around the attachment point.

It's quiet tonight. J is on his third feed of the night. He keeps waking up and squealing. I have no idea how DH is going to be able to manage at work tomorrow.

Second feed here, well I say feed, he is only having water this time. He keeps waking himself up by getting into daft positions in his cot.

YellowWellies · 29/07/2013 05:38

First feed but he had 3 wake ups which DH handled before we went to bed. No idea why - regression or teething are my catch alls!

I fly 2000 miles and you have gone through 2 threads? Smile

car seats. hmm. we have a lovely britax first class but its approaching six years. grrr. may get DH to stress test it! both my big boys are in booster seats. a friend of my mums tried to buy a boisterous seat in mothercare and was told that they would become illegal under new car seat laws so she bought one if those big seats up to 12 years Hmm as far ad I know that is bollocks so mothercare are either crap or sheisters Grin

well we are here in middle east and SIL is a million times nicer than in the past. she has converted and it has really suited her. still mad that between us we have six boys at eight and under. you can imagine the madness in the paddling pool Grin Grin

Y was a total whinge bag mama obsessed grumpy pants the first two days but then he cut two teeth and is now charming everyone in sight.

however he wakes up two hours earlier than everyone else. he goes down for his nap when everyone wakes up. yawn.
presents - well Y has loads of stuff from boys. we need a top up of jigsaw puzzles and want a new ride on for him. trying to justify the vtech zebra but its a bit too much. we got ds1 a trike with a parent handle from Elc. eight years later and its still going strong. Y will be its fourth owner as its currently with his cousin.

may take a trip for the millionth time to see where baby Jesus was born. I will try to take one of those tacky pics with Y sat on the spot. bye! xx

More travels pikz! Good luck.

Have a nice time brockle - sounds like happy chaos.

How are you doing today mm?

YW I am also using the teething catch all. Last night was the third night in a row p has woken fully and needed settling. Although last night was 10 minutes rather than an hour so much better.

How are you this morning fatima? Your post made me feel terrible for you - I know what you mean by feeling anxious sick. Horrible.

I have had my worst night's sleep in forever. Was in bed at half past nine as tired. DD1 messed us around for a while but was asleep by 11. I was still awake when LO stirred at 1 (though I left her to do it and she didn't cry, just sang for a while and went back to sleep). Then went into that kind of fitful delirious sleep where you wake up every few minutes, unsure what is real and what isn't. Then DD1 needed the loo at 4 which has never happened before, but anyway. And I have been wide awake since then apart from a brielf moment when I fell asleep just before LO and DH woke for the day.

And what was I thinking of all night? Work.

Are there any more uppababy vista users on the thread? I know cacacaz and izzy use them but I don't know if they are reading. Anyway, det reminded me about the newborn insert. P has been in her seat for ages but she still seems much too small for it and it doesn't seem very comfy. I was wondering if getting the insert was worth it. Apparently it last over 20Ib. Might help her sleep in it if it is comfier.

We are off to seem lovely pal in Edinburgh today. Torn between taking very small set of wheels with car seat for ease of train journey and big set of wheels for ease of all the paraphernalia I need to take!
