Oral thrush in 2 week old?

DD3 is 2 weeks old, and for the past week she's had a white coating on her tongue and 3 little white spots on the roof of her mouth. Tried to get an appointment to see GP (slightly different system here as we're in Holland) but ended up only talking to him. He's given me a prescription for Daktarin Oral Gel which we've been using for 2 days. It doesn't seem to be clearing up, so now I'm wondering if she's even had thrush in the first place - could it just be the milk (I'm breastfeeding her) coating her tongue?

they also get the coating on the inside of their mouth. makes it difficult for them to feed too.

Also, if she has got thrush in her mouth, you really need to be treated too, because it can be passed backwards and forwards from your breasts to baby. If you do get it in your breasts it can be VERY painful, so it's definately worth treating. Have a look at www.breastfeedingnetwork.org - they have an information leaflet on breastfeeding thrush which is very detailed and contains info on all the up to date treatment.

Thanks for the replies ladies. Had to go to the docs for something else this morning but asked him to have a look at her mouth anyway. Turns out she hasn't got/had thrush in the first place!
