DECEMBER 2005: SETTLING DOWN???????

Hope no one minds but i thought id start a new thread as the last one was so long!!!

HOpe you are all well.
Sweetheart: CONGRATULATIONS on passing the exam! What a massive achievement for you! WELL DONE
George: I have gone through all Aelx-Leighs clothes too and had to sort through all the next age bracket, its so upsetting isnt it!
SCULLY: Alex is also a very windy baby! She is definately her daddies girl in that department IYKWIM
FLUTTER: hows George doing now with wind etc? Did you try gaviscon? fingers crossed fort he flat, bet you cant wait to get your own space again!
EBBIE: how are things with you babe?
Jays: How are things with Harriette??
Nemo? Where are you?? Hope you and kids all ok, how is DH new job going?
After the nightmare i had on MOnday i ended up having to take Alex-Leigh back to the doctors on friday. Gaviscon worked a treat for 3 days and the on Thursday she started vomiting again and screaming in pain. We booked to see a different GP at the surgery who was great and immediately diagnosed REFLUX and has put Alex on ENFAMIL milk which goes solid in the tummy thus preventing her from regurgitating the whole bottle and stomach acid. She seems to be doing ok, still getting some sick but very small amounts comapred to before! Was discharged from Therepy on Friday, therepist said i had worked really hard to start the grieving process and has said she is happy im well on my way and wants me to stay on anti depressants for 6 months. Dh has handed in his notice at work, long story but he is no longer happy there, this means he now has 6 weeks to find himself another job or we will be in a very bad situation!!! Im trying to be supportive but its hard! I start back at work in 2 weeks and am looking forward to finally earning some money again, although what i earn will not be enough to pay bills if DH doesnt get a job!
Got to go as Alex has just woken up from her nap!

Take care all.

By the way. Is anyone using SMA GOLD formula milk?
If you are let me know cos i have an unopened box of the sma gold powder sachets (18x4oz feeds) here that we are obviously not going to use now and would hate for them to go to waste. You can have them for free!

You poor soul! Reflux SUX. My niece had it.

I start back at work on 10 April so far. We'll have to see how it goes w/the consultant next week. I think the birth control pills are to blame for my anxiety going off the charts these past couple of days, tho. It's a wee bit better today. DH took the girls out a LONG walk and I got a lot of stuff done in the house and that helped me feel organised. That takes teh edge off.

I'll see how it goes. I may need to either increase my Lustral dosage or switch - grrrr! - or get some help for the anxiety.

Baby Roisin is getting HUGE. She is 12lbs!

I have decided to delay the start of her jabs till she's 3 months old, 10 March.

NEW THREAD HURRAH

I kept meaning to do this but just never got round to it, a bit like my huge pile of ironing

George seems to have just all of a sudden started feeding brilliantly, still pretty windy but in a normal baby kinda way and he has slept right through the night for 3 nights so far I'm hoping this will continue and not just be another stage of his.

Hope you lot are all getting more sleep and less wind

Bonkerz I'm sure your Dh will find a job, if he is really unhappy wherte he is then it will be for the best, I have told my dh to lookmfor another job as he is unhappy (I'm hoping he will find one before leaving this one) I think I would kill him if he didn't

Know all about the stress of dh's looking for jobs, we struggled for a while even after dh found one in dec, things sorted now though. just hoping that his contract is renewed past the end of march
dd2, who is usually 3-4hr sleeper between feeds decided to wake every 2 or so hours last night, think it's because she has caught my cold, poor little thing is sniffley. We tested the waters with going away last week, stayed with friends about 2hrs drive from us for thurs & fri nights. it went well with the girls & we all came back last night feeling relaxedm. dh has even managed to do a few jobs around the house today
dg just gave dd2 a bath, she sleeps lovely and her little bald head is so soft to touch

evening ladies!! how is everyone??
well my poor little girl has caught the cold/flu thing that is going round so is not too well what with a stuffy nose and cough but as yet no raised temp so fingers crossed it stays that way and doesnt get any worse! ah well...she seems fine in herself tho and is smiling more and more for her mummy and daddy!! shes so beautiful (sorry to be so gushy and bragging but who cares she is gorgeous!!)
we took her to get her weighed on friday and she weighed in at a hefty 10lb 12oz!! she has put on over two lbs since birth and is almost out of most of her little newborn clothes!! i know its a cliche but time does dissappear without you noticing it doesnt it!! i feel kinda sad that we cant say shes a 'newborn' anymore!! but its so much better now that she plays and laughs with us!! anywho enough of me going on with myself!!...
hope everyone is doing well love and hugs to one and all!! xx

Shame, dd2 just had her 8wk jabs, one in each leg and she was not impressed she's sleeping now though so hopefully won't remember anything or feel worse for it when she wakes up....
Going into London tomorrow to take dd2 into my work. dd1 will be at nursery so only having a baby to cope with should be ok, fingers crossed
& I start my post-natal exercise course on Wed - it runs for 6wks - curious to see if I notice any difference after it's finished

Hey girls, hope you don't mind me rearing my head again. I come on MN so little these days and it's normally just to ask a quaestion, check there isn't a Down's syndrome issue that I could help with and then I disappear again, but saw this thread in active and had to pop in to say hi.

So, how's it going with you all?
All good here. Little Eve is a truly a gift from above. She is a dream and life is really great. Charlotte has a bug of some sort and I'm sure she'll pass it on and life will become awful, but apart from Lottie waking up a lot in the night for the last 3 nights life is sweet.

Eve is due her jabs this Friday but I also am going to delay them and just get her checked and weighed. No idea what she weighs right now but is b.feeding well and sort of going through the night. It's not massively consistent but she'll cluster feed in the evening, last top up between 10.30 and 11.30 ish and then often goes till about 5am but sometimes can go longer which is always nice!

She smiles loads and does a lot of frowning too which makes me laugh. She looks at me with her frowny little trying to figure stuff out face and then breaks into a massive grin.

Lottie just adores her and is so, so gentle and lovely with her and Eve breaks into a big smile whenever Lottie goes near her, it's great.

So that's us. I look forward to reading about your little ones when I check back later, probably, hopefully this evening.

Love to you all, TC x

Just grabbed a few mins to post. I've got dd home from school today with a 40oC temperature! I'm sure it will pass onto Lucas, still at least his sleeping won't be affected as he is still being a nightmare at night. The last couple of nights I've got about 3/4 hours sleep which comes in half hour burts - it's a luxury to get a full hour atm!

He is a joy during the day though and i consider myself very lucky to have him dispite my constant moaning about no sleep!

He has put on 3.5 Ibs since he was born and seems like such a little porker now! I have packed away lots of his clothes already. I know it is horrible that they aren't newborns any more but Lucas is so much more responsive now with his smiles and giggles that I prefer it. I can decode his crys most of the time now too which makes things alot less stressfull!

How is everyone feeling anyway - I am personally feeling very VERY fat right now. I've got about 2.5 stone to loose and hating having to watch what I eat. I've been going to the gym and my fitness levels have definatly increased but I don't seem to be able to shift the layers of fat I've accumulated. Mmmmmmm perhaps I should ask for Lypo Suction for my b'day pressie

Hello people

Just jumping on to let you know that George had his check up at the hospital yesterday to see whether the heart murmor they picked up on when he was in with bronchilitis had gone or not and.......he has got the alllllllllll clear YAY FOR US!!!!

The Dr also said he has a bit of oral thrush which has been causing all the problems with feeding, she said that would make it very painfull to feed cause him to throw up because he was in pain and cause lots of wind because he would be gulping all the time. So problem solved he is on anitbiotics to get rid of it, the Dr said that he probably has got it because of being on the antibiotics before, it makes them more suseptible to it.

Anyway she also said that he is supporting his head perfectly and following people round the room and that he is very sociable because when she was talking to him he started kicking and babbling back to her with huge smiles. DH reckons he's going to be a real gas bag just like his Mummy

Jay haven't heard from you for a while hope that the feeding and sleeping are getting a bit better for you, and all of the others that were having problems.

Spring is just round the corner and with is should come some warmer days

sh, how are you coping with such little sleep if dd2 sleeps less than 3hrs between feeds I'm not impressed hope your dd is feeling better soon.
dd2 was very unsettled between 6-9pm last night, really grizzley which is not like her at all. Gave her a 1/4 spoon of calpol and that finally settled her and she slept from 10 to 1.30am, and then from 2-5am and was fine this morning so hopefully over it now.
fb, great news that george has the all clear, hope his thrush is all better soon though. Had better go, I'm being summoned by a certain 8wk old She thinks she hasn't eaten in days.....

hiya i am still here, but like everypne else i dont get much of a chance to post...

Thanks for your thoughts flutter, things here are a little better, i have come to the conclusion that i have a 'cryie' baby i dont think that she has reflux now, the vomitting has settled down and she doesnt seem to be crying when i lay her down, just all the time ! No in all fairness i think she is ok and i was just looking for an 'answer' to why i wasnt able to cope with her crying and not settling. I get the most amazing smiles between cries and they make up for everything that brings me down! she has even started to burbling and gurgling now, i think she has found her voice box! I put her into her own room last night ( shes 7 weeks today) i know what 'they' say about waiting till they are six months etc, but i think its best for both of us. By my reckoning we both disturb each other with our own noises, so i have decided to see how this goes.
Last night she went down at 8 30 ( normally its 7 30), DH gave her a dream feed at 11 30 ( normally its 10 30) and then she didnt wake again till 4 15. Now for her thats amazing, i fed her then and then put her back down till she woke at 6 15. I cant complain too much can i!

So this evebibg she was in her cot by 7 and asleep by 7 30, i will keep to the routine and see how it goes.

She has her six week check tomorrow am sure that all is ok, she also is putting on wieght and since her birth weight of 9lbs 5ozs she has out on 3 lbs, am quite sure that will have gone up by Thursday when i get her wieghed again!

Hope everyone else is ok and enjoying their bundles, whose up for the next one yet?????!!!!!!!!

Hi all
Jays: glad all is going well with you.

Alex-Leigh was weighed again today and is a whopping 11lb 13.5oz!!! weight gain has slowed in the last week but shes still doing very well!
She is coping better on her new milk and is a happier baby apart from constipation problems which isnt surprising when you note how thick the enfamil milk is!! She goes in her cot at 9pm and has started to sleep till 4am, quick feed and then sleeps till 7 ish.!!
Starting back at work in less than 2 weeks so have thrown myself into reorganising the house etc so if OFSTED decided to visit then i am prepared! After 5 months off from childminding my house isnt particularly small child friendly anymore and im chucking out alot of broken toys etc.
My sister is coming up at the weekend with her children to collect all the clothes and things Alex no longer needs! She is due a little girl in 6 weeks! She is also bringing up some of my mums posessions which i have to seel to raise money for a headstone, finally i feel i am ready to face all the jobs that havent been done!
hope you are all well, will continue to read this thread until i get another 5 mins to post!
Take care all

good afternoon ladies!! hope everyone is ok!! we are fine sian is still poorly with a cold but she seems to be getting a bit better. although after a few very restless nights i decided to take her to the docs and it turns out she has got thrush!! and its not in her mouth!! has anyone else heard of a baby getting thrush 'down there?'i dont know why but i always thought small babies couldnt get that kind of thrush!! duh to me as it seems they can.shes now on cream for it and it seems like that was the cause of her restlessness as she was an angel last night!
hope all is well with everyone else!

DH fell down a flight of steps today whilst holding George because he instinctively grabed on to George he couldn't put his hands down and cracked his back really badly on the steps, he's lead up on the sofa now in agony. I was really scared when I saw him go down, a total stranger ran over the road to help him, I grabbed George out of his arms knowing he was OK and passed him straight to the stranger so I could help DH, he was gasping for breath and his eyes had filled with tears but he swore he was OK.

Sweetheart I must have misread your post I really thought it was you with the temperature ooopppsss hope your dd is feeling better now.

George is now doing really well at night he has a feed at about 6-7ish then sleeps till 10-11ish (sometimes we wake him) and then he sleeps through till about 6am Before any of you get jealous remember he is 14 weeks old now and a good bit older than your little ones, he also weighs 13lb 5oz and has the biggest chubbiest cheeks I have ever seen.

OMG flutter thats the worst thing in the world! Glad that both are ok though, couldve been worse, pheweeee!
Glad little George is doing well, god 14 weeks thats amazing, i know we all say it but time flies so much! Harriette is a day over 7 weeks, had her 6 weekly check today, shes 13lbs 2 ozs thats nearly 4 lbs gain since birth( not really chubby, just very long!! ) - going to be a supermodel i think!! alls well with her and her development, i also had my check, had a locum doctor, which i thought was going to be poo, but her was very good and did a thurough job. I didnt want him to examine me ( H was having a screaming fit at the time) but BP ok chatted about some contraception and other bits and bobs, he was very nice and i didnt feel it to be a waste of time at all, perhaps it was becasue he was a locum and not the ordinary doc... who knows.

Anyway, DH has just done the 10 30 dream feed so i am off to bed to catch some zzzzz's before the 3 oclock feed. Night all hugs and sickie muslin squares to you all !!!! xxxxxx

Just time for a quick post before I have to pop to the shops - although it's snowing really hard here and I'm not sure I can be arsed to go out in the cold!!!!

Flutter - thank goodness George is OK. I'm sure your dh will be better soon - what a star for not dropping the baby. Things like that are what nightmares are made of but so easily done. I hate to admit it but dd fell down the stairs when she was a toddler. She wasn't hurt but I was a complete nervous wreck!

Night times here look like they are improving slightly. I've figured if I can get a certain amount of milk down Lucas he as a better night so I am force feeding him at every oppertunity

He is a joy during the day - really smiley and happy. He babbles away, I think he's going to be a chatter box like his big sister - perhaps I'll cut my ears off!!!!

Is anyone else thinking of having a christening/blessing/naming ceremony?

We are planning on having both the kids done in th esummer - probably around July/August time so we can have the reception in the garden. Not sure what we're going to have yet, we'll probably go for a blessing in a church.

Hope everyones well, baby crying, must dash!!!!

Report
flutterbee · 23/02/2006 18:42

We have had a traditional Ghanaian naming ceremony, all DH's family came around and the DH poured oil over Georges head whilst blessing him, everyone then ate and drank and gossiped it was great fun.

Neither DH or I are in to any particular religion but this just seemed really nice and was very important to DH's family. The most amazing part of the ceremony to me was when I was handed over £500 cash from them all for George, DH said that a collection is always done for the mother and the child ....makes having another one worth while

Report
flutterbee · 23/02/2006 18:44

Oh forgot to say that we may well have some sort of general blessing/naming later in the year when we move for both families just to thank them for all there help over the past year and a half and to officially welcome the smelly one into the world.
