I have been on them for two months, loads of people have told me that when you want to come off them it is so hard. dont want to rely on them to feel happy

frodo... I was on ADs (seroxat/paroxetin) after both of my pregnancies.

Both times for about 8 months. Coming off wasn't all that bad. Important thing is to
a) discuss it with your GP
b) do it very gradually
c) make sure you are ready - that's the tricky one...
d) do it in spring/summer - I tried the first time round to do it in winter but the gloomy weather just got me down whereas in spring/summer you can get out more and just let the kid(s) run wild whilst you enjoy a nice little stroll etc.

When I initially reduced I noticed a change to the worse mood wise after a couple of days and went back to GP who said it probably was to early to try and reduce them - also as just mentioned it was winter

Hope this helps a little

I think take them happily for 6 months at least and then decide what you want to do.

GP has told me to stay on them for at least 6 months, really low after the birth, had a major placenta previa, spent a month in hossie before the birth on bedrest,GP thinks that had alot to do with it, didnt have depression with my other 2, maybe my age is something to do with it I am 36.

frodo has your GP referred you to a counsellor at all?

IMO anti depressants are good things BUT only in conjunction with some kind of counselling.
they will make you feel better... but they arne't going to take away the underlying reasons for your depression.
you need to talk to someone, work through the reasons you feel down... THEN think about coming off of them

i think maybe your experience has made you depressed. it plays in the back of your mind.
i had a bad time in hospital, i was treated like crap by older nurses etc as i am 22, they spoke down to me and spoke over me.
