Scared and tearful - is anyone else feeling really depressed about all these paedo news stories?

It feels like everyday I see a barrage of disgusting headlines on paedophiles and their ilk. I've never, as far as I'm aware, been abused but I find myself having an almost physical reaction to the stories - horror, shock and an almost overwhelming desire to throw up. I hate the society we seem to have become and my heart breaks for the children that have been abused. I feel scared for my kids - what kind of world do we live in when teachers, doctors, care workers and politicians abuse their power? Who can we trust??? I'm praying with every fiber of my being that the abusers are caught and brought to justice

I'm sorry to hear that you are so distressed by these news stories, but maybe it might help a bit to think that '71,999,350 people did absolutely nothing wrong today' doesn't make such a shocking news story.

I feel the same. I'm also deeply disturbed that it may be the case that people in powerful positions (MPs, celebrities, etc) used their power/influence to carry out and get away with it.

I'm seriously losing all faith in society if this has been allowed to happen to these poor children.
