Brilliant policies

I'm not normally much for politics, but the current government seem to be making some valid calls.

First off, they're capping benefits - sure they're targeting people who might be considered "disadvantaged", but when viewed over the span of history rather than a single individual's sob story, this makes a lot of sense. The last thing we need is people using government money to masquerade as successful individuals; one thing leads to another and before you know it weakness and ineptitude becomes reinforced genetic traits.

Then there's all the tax breaks for married couples that they're talking about. This will give a lot of people a much needed boost in disposable income, especially when they have child care responsibilities. Conservative run councils are also being nice and putting a freeze on council tax rises at a time when we really don't want to see any more money disappearing without visible effect.

I'm sure some will protest about these policies not doing much for single mothers. These are valid concerns in some circumstances; I think that the government should build measures to support widows and widowers in their new measures, because genuine tragedy should never be penalized.

Biscuit (in the name of austerity, it's not even a jammy dodger. It's a stale rich tea i found down the back of the sofa. You don't want to know what the red bit is).

Actually, given that you don't appear to have posted before about anything, politics or otherwise, I'll take my stale biscuit back to feed to some ducks, tyvm.

How do I delete my thread? I think, having browsed some of the other content, that I may have been better advised to address my comments in a different thread/forum rather than risk causing concern...

Do you listen to Wagner by any chance? The Origin is a great book, have you read it? The bible is tame in comparison but when you combine all three it makes a very interesting ideology.

I think you're in exactly the right forum to express an opinion and there is no 'qualifying period' to contribute. No idea what you mean about a welfare system creating 'reinforced genetic traits' however.... Hmm Genetic?

Went with word "genetic" as was not sure if the more philosophical "meme" would be understood in it's non-"pictures of funny cats" sense!

There may not be a qualifying period for contributions but you probably want to avoid being patronising.

I suggested a £10k benefits cap on another thread. £26k is £34k of before tax income and ridiculously high.

Tax breaks of married couples are anti feminist and a bad backwards step and thjey have not brought any in yet, quite a converse. At the moment Cameron has introduced policies which help full time working mothers and working mothers are very pleased about that. That is better for the nation than encouraging parents not to earn income on which tax is paid. Having a full time working mother is the best thing for babies.

newperspective. Don't be told by ANYONE on here what to post,or how long you have to be around, to post. It's a waste of time, post what you like! Smile

Post what you like, of course. But if your first post is inflammatory and patronising , you might not get a very positive response.
