Recipe of the week

penguinmum's creamy fish pie: smoky, seasonal fish in a creamy white sauce with grated, rather than mashed, tatties on top - a meal of the highest comfort-food order.

Please say a prayer for my dad at 2pm today (Monday) or send some positive thoughts!

(12 Posts)
My dad has been fighting bowel cancer since last August. He has just finished a course of chemo that he has had since April this year. Before that he had radiotherapy and operations so he has been through alot.

In March this year a scan showed no cancer in his body but they said they still wanted to give him the chemo incase any cancerous cells were growing. So he had the chemo up until last month which really has reduced him to being housebound and so weak.

He had a scan last week to see if its all gone and still clear. If it has then in 6 months time he can have a reversal operation.

So today at 2pm he will find out if he is in the clear.

Please say a prayer for him or send positive thoughts. The last year has taken so much out of him. If he is clear I know he will take on this new chance of life and make the most of it. He has already changed in so many ways. I just to see his shoulders a little lighter after all this time.

Thank you x

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.

Just got "the" call and my dad is in the clear grin grin

They even said they will talk about his reversal after Christmas so it could be done before 6mths so he is really excited now about getting his body back and his stoma bag removed!

We are so relieved!

We owe it all to the fantastic doctors and their amazing work. He has been looked after so well at every point right down to the caring nurses who looked after him when he had his major operation.

They said he will have a check up again and blood tests in three months time which I think they must to with anyone who has had cancer.

Thank you again x

He will be in there now so I have to keep thinking positive for him. If he was clear in March and has had all that chemo since then it surely must be gone?

All the waiting to hear has been so stressful.

Thanks x

Links The simplest way to insert a link is to enter the link itself, surrounded by [[ and ]]. So if you type [[www.mumsnet.com]], the link will display as http://www.mumsnet.com. If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]]. So "Look at [[www.mumsnet.com this page]]", would display "Look at this page".
