Could a Muslim MNer answer a question please?

Would you mind helping me out?

I would like to send a condolence card to a family I work with but I am unsure if it is a convention in Islamic culture.
They have suffered a devastating loss and I would hate to do the wrong thing.

They are an observant family. I am sure they would not assume I was being deliberately insensitive even if I did the wrong thing.

Thank you.

Thank you Crescent.

I just wanted to be sure.
I am a bereaved parent so am particularly careful to be as sensitive as possible.
Probably a bit over careful but I know how the 'little things' can seem so much bigger in the midst of terrible grief.

I appreciate your reply.

Thanks for the link.
I used to work for a bereavement charity and learnt a lot about the importance of the rites and rituals of death.

It was when I first become aware of the different ways different cultures approach this difficult time.

There is so much I don't know still. I know how I feel and the things I find important but I am no longer religious and my views are shaped by the loss of my DD. I know a little about Islamic practices but only a very little, not the more subtle things that come with real familiarity IYSWIM.

It is a subject very close to my heart so I want to get things right.
