Can someone give me a rapid rundown on 'winter' festivals/holy days of different faiths?

(It's for the purposes of writing fiction, not a personal quest or anything)
I know of: Christmas, Winter Solstice, Hannukah, Diwali... any others? Is there, for instance, any kind of Muslim midwinter feast/fast?

TIA.

There is quite a good article on Wikipedia listing all the midwinter festivals. Article [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_winter_festivals here]

My friend's Iranian friends celebrate Yalda - it's a really big festival for them. I have heathen friends who celebrate Modraniht.

I celebrate Yule, Saturnalia and Dies Natali Sol Invictus - the Unconquered Sun.
