Not sure that I believe in all the hype. But what I do know about, and have experience of is some of the neuroscience that makes it all work (or feel as though it's working).

There's a part of our brain called the Reticular Activating System (RAS). it's the part of the brain that keep on working on something when our conscious focus has moved to something else - so when you can't remember someone's name and then suddenly a few hours later when you're busy cooking dinner, it pops into your brain - that's the RAS. It the same reason that you never see an orange umbrella until you buy one, and then you see them everywhere - your RAS is subconsciously taking note of the things around you and bringing them to you conscious attention.

In terms of 'manifesting' it's why when I think about living in a house by the sea, I start to notice properties that are available, and I spend time thinking about how I might afford it, and then I start to notice affordable loan deals, and then I think about ways to earn some extra money, and then I start to notice adverts for part time jobs - then Bob's your uncle! and I have a job, a loan and a house by the sea. All the information and opportunities were around me all the time, but my brain has just brought my focus the things that I've been thinking about.

So can it work? - yes. Are any of these people 'guru's who have found a secret - probably not.

Hey there. I think I can see the law of attraction quite clearly in my life now. When you read things such as 'what you think about, you create' it does sound a bit crazy, but, it really does work.
I've had quite a few things instantly manifest for me, and sometimes I don't exactly know why. But, I do know that I set my intentions to the highest level for myself, (and others) knowing that there is enough for everyone, and everyone has different needs or wishes.
One of the things I was able to manifest for myself was my car. I kept a vision in my mind of what I would ideally like, and then I set myself a budget to have it happen. When I made my mind up that I really wanted to do it- the universe seemed to sweep in and support me, and I took action when I saw opportunity that I was going to buy this particular type of car.
I always say things such as 'thank you for my healing, thank you for my job etc' and I try to remain in a state of gratitude. Don't get me wrong, I still have off days where I feel so crabbit and grumpy about things, but then I realise I have to change my own perceptions again. Then, generally everything settles down for me too. I do speak to angels, and I find that they are amazing energies to work with too. I do quite often ask my angels to help me find things, or point me in the direction I need to achieve tasks etc.
Louise Hay - well what a woman! She is amazing :)

Hi everyone I just found this thread so hope you are still around!.
i am doing this at the moment and have been finding it really useful to recognise the negative thoughts I carry around with me and then and to get rid of them. Feeling that I deserve good things has been a bit of a struggle, but am getting used to it now and it feels good. I am looking for a new job at the moment so am using 'my perfect job is coming to me now' and i am feeling excited about it. Not the usual 'well I'll look but I doubt I'll find anything', I actually feel buzzy at the thought that something great is around the corner. The money is tricky though, as I have spent a life time telling myself that money isn't everything.

Join us on the woo thread!

I recently started doing/attempting the positivity/LOA thing, and lots of little things are coming out of the blue at me. Eg, as far as money goes, I've been paid early and unexpectedly for one project, and another one I was expecting to be paid for around December rang me last Thursday for my bank details as their funding has unexpectedly come through early.

You have nothing to lose in any case I think in giving it a go. And just the whole thinking in the positive rather than about your problems/what you don't want, is uplifting in itself. Smile

I agree with Venus that manifestations work because we become more attuned to existing possibilities. But it's crucial to act on them. Lots of people think all they have to do is pin a picture of their dream house on their fridge and it will miraculously become theirs. Venus's model of then acting on suggestions is crucial.
Lucky people make their own luck all the time. They are unfailingly optimistic and see opportunities everywhere and act on them. That's the key.

Yeah, racing a great point. We actually have to action step the whole process, so that when the ideal or unexpected opportunity presents itself- or we get a hunch/angel nudge/knowingness - that we must do the physical steps and work to obtain our dreams too. Yes. Forgot about that! xxx

I wonder if I have gone a little bit the other way with this. Since affirming that 'I deserve the best and the best is coming to me now' I have been feeling rather cocky! I was brought up to think that I should put others before myself, which actually made me feel rather worthless, but now I am feeling almost arrogant. That's not good is it! Or maybe it is?

Law of attraction is, in my opinion, how the world works. I do believe that we create our own reality. We do not have control over external things and people but we have total control of our thoughts and actions. Gratitude is a great way to bring in a positive attitude and to start to appreciate your life. Because of the way we are conditioned from birth we learn to automatically assume negativity and fear. That's why it is not an easy task to think in that way or have the level of total confidence and faith all the time. However, by developing self awareness and working on one self it is possible. Read up on Buddhist phylosophy and practices, such as meditation and yoga, to find ways that will help to train your mind and focus on what you want :)
