Where can I find out about saints names and meanings?

Taking my first holy communion on saturday and priest has asked me to choose a name for confirmation.
I can use my name, but dont know the meaning behind it, or I can choose another saints name.
Are there any web sites?

I chose my mum's first name when I was confirmed a zillion yrs ago - it's Zita and she's the patron saint of housewives !! (according to my ma)

She is the patroness of domestic workers. Her feast day is April 27.

why do you need a confirmation name for your first communion? are you CofE?

I only chose my confirmation name when I was confirmed, not for my First Holy Communion...
My best friend chose Cecilia (as she was v musical) as her name and an ex chose Finbar for his ! I never use my confirmation name when writing out my full name...
Is it true,by the way,that all Catholic girls have the name Mary (in some form) in their Christian names ? (I am for example have Maria as my second name, my Granny and cousin have Mary,and my great aunt had Mary as a third name) - my mum is Maria Zita...it's something my dad told me...

um, no Binker. I was brought up a Catholic and have never been called any kind of Mary .

I did hear about a family of girls all called variations on Mary though - Marie, Moira, Mhari (sp?) etc

...maybe the fashion for it has died out ? Do you remember churches having all the saints statues and the crucifix covered in purple over Good Friday to Easter Sunday ?

yeah, and having to kiss the crucifix at the Easter vigil after about 200 old ladies have kissed it too - bleurgh!

yes - I remember that !! we used to go to Mass every day over Easter when staying with my granny...
