How do I get a tic off of the cat's head??

She's come in today with a tic (i think) on the front of her head just in front of her ear. It's not filled up (ie a big disgusting white lump) it's a little brown/black disgusting thing with legs. I tried to get it off with a flea comb but it's stuck in. I know you are meant to put something on it to make it pull it's head out but i cant remember what......any ideas?

I think it's a cigarette.

Smother it with Vaseline, it will suffocate and then you can pull it off.

The other thing that you can try is a drop of clear nail varnish, that's supposed to make them let go, and you can pick them out with tweezers.

Just looked at a website re ticks and it says to use fine-tipped tweezers. Grab the tick as close to the skin as possible and pull it out without rotation. If there's anything left it the skin after, try and get it out.

If you use Vaseline, cigarette end, burning match, nail varnish, this will cause tick to inject more infectious material into whatever it's got hold of.

The vaseline and nail polish tips come from a cat care book, so I assumed that they would be OK to use.
