Cat on "bed rest" for 6 weeks - cage advice?

Hello,

Our beautiful kitty has a broken pelvis and is under strict orders to stay in a cage for 6 weeks.

We need a cage which is big enough for cat / food & water / litter tray. Our cage is simply not big enough.

We have improvised and used a travel cot turned upside down, as last night we were desperate (she only came back from the vet last night). But it is in no way ideal.

We cannot afford to buy from new and ebay and gumtree have come up fruitless (of course will keep looking).

We were thinking of using the upstairs toilet as it is very small, has a window and he wouldn't be able to get out. Is that a really bad idea? He may try and jump up onto the toilet seat and injure himself!

I wondered if anyone had any bright ideas??

TIA xx

I wonder if Cat Protection League (or another rescue centre) could loan you one or rent it to you for a reasonable price/donation.

Maybe ask on Facebook local or Freecycle for sale/wanted pages to see if someone could help, too.

Agree - a cat charity or even the vet might lend you one. I recommend CHAT. If you are in East Sussex I know where one is for sale for £10.

I had a similar issue with my cat couple of months ago. Found a pet pen on amazon. It's canvas (bit like a cross between a pop up tent and a play pen) and folds away for easy storage. It was approx £25

Thank you for replying

I think I may have sorted one through the swap thread on Chat. But if that doesn't happen I'll contact a charity and see whether they can lend us one xx
