I would really love one but they seem very complicated to keep, are they?

I've got two! Only had them since September! They are lovely really cute! Do you have a garden? and also some space inside for them during winter? Are you good with plants?

Ours has a tortoise table with a heat lamp, a secure run in the garden filled with delicious tortoise weeds. And a beer fridge to hibernate her in during winter. Have a look at tortoise care books on amazon we found it really helpful. We have had her three years and she's thriving.

We have a clover filled grassed front garden but just a paved back garden. I was thinking of utilising the cat pen we have that we no longer use as the cats go out now. It has a wire run then an enclosed shed bit. But would hve to fill the pen bit with soil or similar I'm guessing as they like to dig don't they?

It's just the temperature needs that are worrying me, and the space it would need inside, is the tortoise table very big kinky?

I would love one. They look so cute and my daughter could grow up with it and look after it when it outlives me!

Tortoises can climb so you would have to cover the bottom with something smooth. Is it in full sun? They need as much direct sunlight as possible. Tortoise tables are ok for young tortoises but adults need more space. At the minute my outside enclosure is 2.5m by 1.5m. Thats ok for now but eventually they will be moving to a 6m by 5m enclosure. Some have told me this is too small. I cant have them roaming round as the boundries arent secure. Yes they do need soil to dig down. The tortoise table website has lots of good advice and ive liked them on facebook too as they are really helpfull whennit comes to identifying weeds. There are sites where you an adopt tortoises too! Lots seem to be got rid of 5 to 8 years old. I guess thats when people feel they dont have the space.
