Ask.fm is a website where anyone can comment or ask a question anonymously. It's notorious for bullying and grooming, yet is still there, no report button and is just downright wrong. Just today in the news, a 14 year old girl committed suicide due to bullying on this site. Please sign this petition. epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/48886

Thank you.

Hi, Madlizzy.

We have a section on the site for petitions. Would you like us to move this there for you?

There is a report button. Ask.fm themselves talk about it, and other ways of reporting abuse, in the statement they made today.

While the concept is worth exploring, I won't sign a factually incorrect petition.

Sorry, yes, there is a report button. Just going to look for the statement, as I wasn't aware that they'd made one today. Been a bit tied up.

If you can't find it, I'll post a link. It must be in my history somewhere.

I don't see the purpose of ask.fm, and I hope that they do either make significant changes or remove access. It's a big ask, though, especially as the site is Latvian.

I'm horrified at some of the comments the poor girl got, and her family got more on Facebook today. It's the worst of the internet, most definitely.

MY dds never use it they did show me some of it that their friends are on it is just horrible that poor girl

I've found it. They only have 50 external moderators to field through any reports. I'd like it gone ideally. both my daughter and my friend's daughter have been on the receiving end. It's banned in my house now.

I'm not opposed to any campaign that would close this site.

However, I do think parents need to take responsibility here.
My dd's Facebook is full of links to other children's Ask.fm sites. I see the abuse they receive, and one girls even posted a photo of cuts she had made on her arm.
I know this about their children...why do these parents not?
Sickening.

I also think that blaming the suicide of a young person entirely on a website is misleading.

It's a contributory factor rather than blamed entirely, and the main contributors were the bullies. This website just facilitated them in their bullying. I do agree about parents taking responsibility too. I know what my teenagers are doing online, and all parents should know too, but sadly that's not going to happen.

I try and think I know what dd2 does online but a lot of them have smartphones too so it is easy to lose track of what they are doing
