campaign for midwives and women

Hello Netmums. I am Virginia Howes midwife and I am staring in the new ITV programme, Home Delivery which is on next Thursday 21st March. I hope you enjoy it but I actually want to inform you of something else something even more important and something which if we do not all get angry about will have serious repercussions on your choices around childbirth. It is your human rights as woman to choose where and how and under what circumstances you give birth however the Government are trying to link insurance to midwives registration as a new action. This will greatly reduce autonomy for all midwives, will outlaw independent midwives and will in turn be detrimental to women and babies. We are planning a demonstration in London on the 25th March outside parliament. We would like as many mums and babies to come and support the midwives to support you. This is not netmums, however I did see your programme. Well done, I admire your ability to be on call 24/7 everyday.
I am a community midwife and adore homebirth, but there is no way I could spend my whole life on call. You have my admiration
