HG in pregnancy

Sorry for gatecrashing but I wanted to draw your attention to an issue that I feel is feminist related.I have started a thread in the pregnancy area trying to collate peoples experiences regarding Hyperemesis Gravidarium (HG).As late as the 1990's it was still being treated with psychological treatment rather the anti-emetics and to this day women have to wait until they are critically dehydrated before receiving treatment. Despite it being a very physical illness in pregnancy my own personal experiences include being told by a Dr that the problem was caused because I didn't have the right attitude to my pregnancy. This experience is far for uncommon and I would appreciate it if you could visit the thread entitled 'Hyperemsis- Changing current practice' to record any personal experience that you may have had.

I would also appreciate your thoughts on this as a feminist issue. I was informed once that gynaecology and medical treatment of female problems is underdeveloped due to men have dominant rule over the medical industry- not so much now but in the past. What are your thoughts?

You must have been very unlucky. In 1990s where I was living, it was most definitely being treated on NHS as a physical condition, with anti-emetics and hydration support by drip.
