Mums against child abuse

I've been worried, like a lot of mums, about the high profile cases of child abuse in the media. What worries me most is that it's still going on and it makes me really angry. Paedophiles are coming out of the woodwork every day. I think the government need a big general review so that we can look at how we can best protect our kids from these monsters. If you agree, there is an official government petition here:ow.ly/fWKi4 Please will you take a moment to sign? I have put it on Twitter and asked Dr.Sarah Payne to get behind it. Please let me know what you think. It must STOP!

Because obviously being a mum is what makes you be "against child abuse".

The wording of the petition makes it sound as if there is one particular event that you are talking about ("ensure this travesty never happens again"), but it is not mentioned what this is.

Which travesty particularly? And if I wasn't a mum, would I be allowed to sign?

Hello ladies. Anyone can sign, just that I know as a mum I feel like a tiger defending her cubs on this subject! I am in touch with several victims of high profile child abuse cases from the North Wales children's homes, to Jersey, Manchester, Northern Ireland and beyond (via Twitter and NAPAC). The travesty is the way enquiries are typically held for mass cases of abuse. There are now two more going on in Wales and those interviewed again are saying they have little faith in them. One enquiry that ties together all the high profile cases is needed because often the same high profile abusers are involved. We are also approaching celebrities to champion this so we can get more signatures. Please don't let these crimes get covered up again. Any questions, fire away. It's a bona fide government petition. epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/39312
Thanks Mumsnet!
