Hi,

I'm trying to write a piece of work, and I always get confused over affects and effects.

Which one is which?

Thanks

If using as a verb, affects means to have an influence on, effects means to bring about. As in, heat affects me as it makes me feel faint. I am effecting a change in my lifestyle by exercising more. If using as a noun, it's effects. The effects of eating too much are getting fat.

Alcohol affects the liver.

Liver damage can be an effect of high alcohol consumption.

Excess alcohol consumption can effect liver damage.
